Just dickin' around prior to Squash...

    Whip Snatches
    eb x5, 65lbs 2x5, 85lbs x5, 90lbs 2x3, 95lbs 10x2

Felt comfortable enough to try 95lbs...no issues except for one set where let the bar get behind me a tad. Other than that I was able to get the bar in place fairly easily, which surprised me to no end.

Just a lot of fun throwing the bar over your head...

And then an hours worth of singles.

    Deadlift Day

    Warmed up with Hanging Cleans eb 2x5, 75lbsx5, 95lbs x5, 115lbs x5, 125lbs x5, Power Cleans 135lbs 2x3
    Deadlift:
    135lbs x5, 225lbs x5, 275lbs x3
    317.5lbs x5, 360lbs x3, 402.5lbs x1
    360lbs x3, 317.5lbs x5
I'm not necessarily thrilled about my DL at the moment. I feel that 400+ should be moving a bit better than it is. The weight moved faster on the down side of the sets though.

    Assistance Work:
    Knees to Shoulders - 3x15, x5
    Hip Thrusts - 265lbs 5x10
    Whip Snatches - eb x5, 65lbs x5, 85lbs x5, 95lbs 5x2

    227.5lbs x3, 200lbs x5
Did the extra single @ 275 just to remember how it feels

    Assistance Work:
    Squat - 155lbs x20, x15, 10

So I've been off for more than a week tending to family health issues which have had me visiting every healthcare provider in my geographic area as well as turning my life upside down and inside out. Hopefully we're past the worst of things...for a little while at least. My mom is 91 y/o and is the classic case study of Sarcopenia...when your legs go, so does your quality of life.

    Bench Day
    eb 2x5, 95lbs x5, 125lbs x5,
    145lbs x5, 165lbs x5, 185lbs x4, x1
    165lbs x5, 145lbs x5
The last 10 days have done me no favors in terms of being tanned, rested and ready...for fucks sake I couldn't hit 185 for 5.

    Assistance Work:
    Single Arm Dumbbell - 55lbs 3x10
    Row - 135lbs 3x10
    Pull-Ups / Dips - BW 3x5 each

Played an hours worth of singles Squash between the working sets and the assistance work.

I've lost my focus and I'm a bit discouraged with where I am at the moment regarding the "bar"...

    Press:
    eb x5, 75lbs x5, 95lbs x5, 115lbs x5, 125lbs x4, x3, x2, x2, x2, x2
    125lbs 10x1 on the minute

    Wide Grip Pull-ups:
    BW 5x3, 10x1 every 30 sec

    Squat:
    eb x5, 95lbs x5, 145lbs x5, 195lbs x5, 245lbs 3x5
    245lbs 10x1 on the minute

I needed to grind out some "heaver weight". Who knows what good it'll do me...

Pity Party should be over once the endorphins kick in...I hope!

    4/8/13

    Bench -
    eb x10, 95lbs x5, 135lbs x5, 165lbs x5
    185lbs x4, x3, x2
    175lbs 2x5
    185lbs 5x1 on the minute
My right arm (racquet arm) is a little dead...

went and played an about an hour and a half's worth of singles

    Deadlift-
    135lbs x5, 225lbs x5, 315lbs x5
    340lbs x5
Pretty snappy set at 340, especially considering that I was a wet mess from the Squash.

I just had a minor epiphany, and I'm sure if I look back over the years that I experience this very same revelation at some point during the late winter early spring:

I'm playing too much Squash and Paddle for the amount and type of lifting I want to do and accordingly my training suffers. I'm also too old to be trying to balance the two/three items and expecting massive gains in body weight, bar weight and well being. Though my racquets success (such as it is) is benefiting from the iron work.

The season is drawing to a close and once I'm past the last few tournys, I'll be able to focus on the bar as a number one priority.

Thank god for such revelations...I thought I was just getting too old...though that day will come all too soon.

Sorry to hear about you mother, Browndog. But I was heartened to read about your epiphany, which are often hard to come by. I will look forward to the progress that comes with this new focus, and to the success next squash season, when you are jacked and fit from all the lifting. I think the focus issue is important, both in one's programming as a whole and on individual lifts. On the latter, that has been where I have struggled: losing focus and missing the reps.
