A great account, BD. I really enjoyed reading it. And congrats on all those fine lifts. Wow, that deadlift, 475 pounds! 500 not so far away! I've only entered one meet myself and I hardly slept at all the night before the event. I'm not a morning person either. You're inspiring me to consider a meet in Tucson next month even though I've missed a lot of training lately. I don't think I'll ever be inspired to jump out of a plane, though!

Thanks Codger. For me, writing for public consumption is as frightening as public speaking. It takes a lot to get me to do either. Add to that, that I know that Oldster is a pro. And 5, she loves to write as well, she's quite good. So I was quite mindful of my audience. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the yarn.

Find a meet that fits your schedule, don't rush it.

As to skydiving, well that was back in my youth...when I didn't know better.

Nice job at the meet.As for skydiving,I have a friend that is a pilot, he always said it is that insane to jump out of a functioning plane.

Man, that was an awesome write-up, BD! Awesome, absolutely spectacular lifting! Sorry I didn't get to posting a response sooner.

Four PRs, second place, nothing less than a fantastic showing!

Thanks Oldster. The PRs were earned. The medal was be a product of being at the right place at the right time.

    10/23/17

    Feb Meet Prep 1-1 (reps/sets)

    Hi Bar Squat - 110kg x10, 100kg 10x4
    Safety Bar Squat - 80kg 10x3

    Belt Squat - 70kg 12x4
    Split Squats - bw 12x4

    Wide Grip Pull Downs - 50kg 12x4
    Rows - 60kg 10x4

OMG, I forgot how grueling volume work is, with no belt no less...FML. I was hoping for Old Man Eights, and got 10's instead. Coach thought I handled the volume work reasonably well last cycle...yay me, I guess.

Everyone in the gym is back at it, and there was much grousing...does anyone really like volume work. I think not!

Anyway, this starts meet prep for a Mid February meet here in Buffalo.

I'm tired just thinking about those squats. I've never done volume work like that. Might have to give it a try at some point.
