We have a number of different make of bars in our gym: Ohio Power, Texas Power, Eleiko, and one or two more.

The Ohio, and Texas Power bars have a more aggressive knurl than what my hands are ready for at the moment, especially sets of 8 or more.

I would use the Eleiko bar, but that is now reserved for meets only.

So the gym owner bought a couple of bars, the make of which escapes me at the moment, and they have a lighter knurl. In fact, they remind me of an Olympic bar, the knurl is so slight. I'll check to see who manufactures this bar on Saturday, and report back. The owner laughs at the fact that all the Masters lifters gravitate to this bar, and dubbed it "the old man bar".

Anyway, after last weeks cheese grater session, I made sure to go get the OMB for today's session. I figure about 6-8 more Deadlift sessions, and my hands will be in proper shape. Then I can use any bar available.

    The Road Back rep/sets

    Week Three

    Bench - 67kg 8*3
    Wide Grip Spoto - 57.5kg 7*3
    Close Grip 50kg - 7*3

    Dumbbell Bench - 50lbs 10*3
    Dumbbell Press - 35lbs 10*3

    Hammer Curls - 60lbs 10*3
    Dips - bw 5*3

I'm officially back...I mis-loaded the Bench! I was looking to "micro-load the damn thing to 64kg, and spaced on the collars.
The whole first set I'm wondering why the damn thing is soooo heavy: 67kg is why. At least I got all the reps...yay me!

Dips took a hot minute to get adjusted to.

My gym owner (coach) was extremely proactive with NYS, and worked with DHS to come up with an appropriate plan to re-open 'safely" early on in the battle.

And even though the rules have changed a gazillion times, because he has a letter from NYS, he's good to go.

The sad thing is that the other gyms that weren't as proactive about getting clearance are still closed...or if they go wildcat, they're getting blown in by some busybodys.

    The Road Back rep/sets

    Week Three

    Paused SSB - 70kg 8*3
    Larsen Bench - 60kg 8*3
    Hip Thrusts - 90kg 10*4
    Press - 40kg 7*3

Time constrained session due to holiday hours, but it was a good session. Felt good enough to bump the weights and still keep things at RPE 7. My confidence is coming back, slowly, but it's growing.

NJ had some gyms that opened in defiance and were shut down; my gym had newly opened in October; mega cleaning rules were in place with constant announcements to wipe everything down pre-pandemic; now all the equipment has been spread out, social distancing floor lines are down, disinfecting stations were always all over, etc etc - they're ready and will comply with the guidelines.
The gym emailed the membership last week asking us to sign a petition to the Governor because everything is being reopened except gyms; protesting is, apparently, exempt and does not get shut down; indoor dining was allowed (then disallowed), kids are going back to school in fall with unenforceable guidelines... IDK what the answer is; NY is going phase 3 (gyms opening?) so maybe that will change things here.
