I was able to get some training in, despite a long day of work. But we got all of our work done today, and are able to go home tomorrow instead of on Wednesday. I finally got to the gym at about 6PM, after sitting in traffic, and a while on the phone with the travel agent to rearrange the flights. The gym I went to used to be really cool, at least I thought it was back in March 2013. They had a separate room dedicated to powerlifting & olympic lifting, separate from curl bros and machines. Perfect. The room had a raised floor (???), which was broken when some folks dropped heavy weights from overhead (@fitters, probably). They moved all of the squat racks & equipment outside, into a fenced-in area. At least a couple of racks were placed under "family-barbeque-in-the-backyard tents", so the sun wasn't too bad. All of the gear was damaged in some degree - the bumpers looked chewed, and the racks were in poor repair. Speaking of chewed, there was a service dog who kept running around the place. The didn't have enough plates, so I took great pride in hogging all the 45s when I squatted & deadlifted. There were typical bros - dropped deadlifts, shouting at each other to "psyche" each other up , and one lifter doing snatches, who was kind enough to share his chalk with me. (Thanks, Iggy!). At least I was able to train.

    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 345x1, 375x1, 405x1, 435x1, 460xF
    Press: 95x5, 145x3, 150x1, 170x1, 185x1, 195x1, 205xF
    Deadlift: 245x5, 335x3, 325x1, 460x5
    Pullups: 4,4,3

    Time: 70 min
    BW: 250.0lb

I followed up this event with some Mexican food & a couple of margaritas. Sleepy time for Chebass88.

I worked hard today, trying to really focus on the faults from last week's videos. Every rep wasn't perfect, but better than nothing.

    Snatch: bar x 10, 95x3x3, 145x2, (150x2)x8
    Clean & Jerk: 95x3, 145x3, 155x1. (170x)x15

    Time: 85 min
    BW: 250.5lb

Today is an excellent day to be alive.

Today was a decent & focused session after work.

    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 350x5x5 (belt only, avg 4.4 minutes between sets)
    Press: 95x5, 145x3, 152.5x5x5 (avg 1.5 minutes between sets)
    Chins: 6,5,5

    Time: 65 minutes
    BW: 251.0lb

I was mentally distracted from some work issues that have come up recently, but I got my squats & presses done for VD.

Today was a frustrating day in the garage. My oly-lifts are shameful.

    Snatch: barx10, 95x3, 135x1, 155x1, 163x1,1,1, 170xF,1 (PR - 1RM, if we can count a less-than 100% perfect rep)
    C&J: 135x1,1,1, 155x1, 165x1, 175x1, 185x1, 190x1,1
    Front Squats: 135x5, 185x3, 230x3,3,3

    Time: 63 minutes

One of my biggest problems is not reaching full extension. Another is not being quick with my hips. I need to figure out a way to learn to move my hips quickly. Perhaps high pulls? heavy KB swings? I know I will get it with time (which I haven't put in yet), so it isn't so bad.

Haven't seen this in a while, but the extension/hips thing reminded me of it:

I remember watching this one with it:

Today is a real Mongolian Cluster-F of a day. There is a LOT going on including:

    1. Office move to new building, all stuff must be packed by end of today. (I currently have a window in my office, moving to cube farm with no window...). Today has been filled with the people who wear the brown lipstick popping by to see how much I'm packed.
    2. I'm applying for a senior engineer position. The posting ends today. Not yet completed.
    3. One of the projects I'm working on has been a nightmare with purchasing / contracting. I finally received a quote this morning, with no less than four errors. Oh yeah - the deadline to execute this effort is Friday, including getting all the pertinent management to approve.

Woof. At least I was able to move a barbell around during lunch. I had to deadlift first, as someone was using the power rack for squats (real ones).

    Warmup: 24kg KB swings x 20
    Deadlift: 245x5, 335x3, 425x1, 470x5
    Press: 95x5, 145x3, 155x1, 165x1, 175x1, 190x1, 197.5x1
    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 350x1, 375x1, 405x1, 425x1, 440xF (I lost focus during the 440 - a moment of doubt means no lift!)

    BW: 247.5lb
    Time: 80min

Now back to reading contracts, writing resumes, and packing the pictures of my wife & kids from my desk.

I feel for you. I'm moving offices too and man, I have a lot of boxes. Good thing I'm useful since nobody is going to move them for me.

    Good luck on all 3!

At the risk of drawing the disdain of many forum members - yes. I must have used too many buzzwords in my post!
