Today was a tough day of training, but I got it done.

    Press: 95x5, 145x3, 170x5,5,5,4, 167.5x5 (2.5 minutes between sets)
    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 365x1, 380x5x5 (rest times: 3:30, 3:42, 5:00, 5:11)

    Time: 64 minutes
    BW: 242.5lb

No one else was in the gym, just me & the weights. I thought about quitting after every squat set (including the warmups at 135!), and even how I could work it into some complex programming justification. I did my squats one set at a time. It took a lot of mental convincing to do the sets, but I got them done. Even though I'm a little disappointed with today's performance, here is a comparison from the first week on this program:

    Friday, July 18, 2014
    ...
Squats: 45x10, 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 345x5x5 (3-7 minutes rest between sets due to jawing with a friend, belt only)
    Press: 95x5, 145x3, 150x5x5 (1.5 min between sets)
Chins: 6,5,5 (1 min between sets)
    Time: 62 minutes
BW: 246.5lb (less than last week!)
    ...
Even though I skipped chins today, I'm 4lbs lighter, and put 35lbs on the squat work sets and 20lbs on the press work sets. I'm looking forward to seeing where I'll be in another two months.

No matter how difficult it is, press on.

    Good work getting it done.

I have a lot of those thoughts on volume day. I think logging here keeps me accountable and helps to push through. But I take a lot longer to convince myself to do another set than you! I squatted 375x5x5 on Sunday...with a lot more time between sets. I'm trying to get a workout like the one you did today down to even 90 minutes.

Nice job and good comments. Sometimes we feel we are in a rut. A little trending data can tell us if we are or not. For 5x5 that's a bunch of progress.

    Thanks, guys!

@ Manveer - the best thing that helped me was to start timing & recording my rest times. Keeping them consistent & reducing where possible has helped.

Thanks - your log was an inspiration for me to start doing that just recently, though I'm not consistent enough about it.

Today was another fun day of screwing around in the gym.

Wide grip pullups (on the Smith Machine): 12 sets of 4, untimed
COC work w. No. 1, 1.5, 2 - no real training, just "exercising" my grip.

Days like today are great. Nobody was training too seriously today, so we had lots of laughs. I was able to help a couple of folks with deadlifting. Squatting & Deadlifting are doing pretty well in our gym at work.

The mirrors on the wall aren't all straight, and bulge out in several areas, like fun-house mirrors. Two guys tested these out today - doing upright rows in various positions. Depending on where they stood, they were either fat or had awesome guns. Possibly the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a while.

Another Saturday morning training session during the babies' morning nap.

    Front squat: 135x5, 225x3, 265x3x3
    Curl: (140x1)x5, 120x3x3, 100x5,5
    Snatch: 135x1,1, 155x1,1, 165x1, 175x1, 185xF
    (power) Clean & Jerk: 185x1,1, 205xF, 205x1

    Time: 89 minutes
    BW: NM

The olympic lifts weren't all that great. Due to being quite tired, I didn't really have much explosive energy. Trying to force a lift when you aren't feeling it just creates more frustration. Hopefully after some decent rest, I'll be able to do some solid work on Monday's Intensity Day.

Woof. Today was brutal. One of those "drink coffee all day & still fall asleep" days of tiredness. I went in and got a bit of work done anyway.

    Squats: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 365x1, 405x5; PR - 5RM
    Press: 95x5, 145x3, 165x1, 175x5

    Time: 37 minutes
    BW: not measured

    A new 5RM - not too shabby.
