I went to the gym today to make up my missed chins from yesterday & do some curls. I got lazy & skipped chins again.

    Curl: (140x1)x5, 120x3x3, 100x5,5
Cheat Curl: 150 x who cares

Time: 36 minutes (wow, for this amount of time it should be called "The Chebass88 Social Hour"!)
    BW: 243.0
    Program: TMOL 2.2

Every once in a while I decide I need to do cheat curls. Then I do them and conclude (again) that they are a dumb exercise. At least tomorrow's training session should have a little more time for the olympic lifts, as my curls are done.

Another quick Saturday morning special during nap time.

    Front Squats: 135x5, 225x3, 260x3x3
    Snatch: 135x1,1, 145x1, 155x1,1, 165x1, 175x1, 185x1, 185xF; PR - 1RM
    Clean & Jerk: 185x1,1, 205x1,1, 215x1 215xF, 185x1, 185xF
Jerk grip drills with 135 (switching from clean grip to jerk grip / focusing on elbow position)

    Time: 69 minutes
    BW: NM
    Program: TMOL 2.2

Today had some decent intensity going. We had our little guys' first birthday party today, and there was lots to do. I lifted while they nursed & napped, but nap time has been decreasing recently, so I had to get as many reps in as possible. After lifting, I loaded up the little guys in their new RADIO FLYER wagon and walked around town.

We had a bunch of family over this evening (with all the normal drama family get togethers have). We had "smash cakes" for the little guys - wow, what a mess. I had envisioned this evening being a frosty pumpkin beer & catching up on "The League", not scrubbing cake out of everything in the dining room. So it goes.

Here is the video of the 185lb snatch. It isn't much, but it is more than last time.

What do you define as a full blown cheat curl? I've found some small cheating to be ok and work pretty well. I can do perfect strict DB curls with 60s now, and cheat a little with the 70s. I like to have the overload and then back down as it makes the lighter weight feel easy.

That was my intention too. I end up using a lot of hips when I cheat curl, probably on the order of a hang powerclean. It could also be that I do them so infrequently that I haven't nailed down a consistent form. They are uncomfortable, and so I stop them for a few months.

Default Ah, Intensity Day - the day to get a max

    Monday, October 6, 2014

Today is an excellent day to be alive.

    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 365x1, 405x1, 425x3, 405x6; PRs - 3RM & 6RM (belt only)
    Push Press: 135x5, 185x3, 205x4,4,3,3,3
    Deadlift: 245x5, 335x3, 425x1, 475x1, 505xF, 505x1

    Time: 66 minutes
    BW: 242.5lb
    Program: TMOL 2.2

Even though deadlifts were in the toilet today, squats were awesome. After getting a new 3RM, I decided to see how many I can get at 405. Six - not too shabby. There is something particularly awesome about going four-wheeling for reps.

    Stay strong my friends!

Today's training started off as a decent olympic weightlifting session, and ended up destroyed by a fire drill (the real ones, not corporate-speak for "fix up this powerpoint presentation").

    Snatch drops, bar x 5,5
    Snatch: 95x3, 115x2, 125x2, 135x2, 145x2,2, 155x2,2,2

Time: 50 minutes (including 20 minutes during fire drill)
    BW: 242.5lb
    Program: TMOL 2.3

I'm definitely under the weather today, but decided to get some training done. Everything was going great until the fire alarm popped off (between 145 & 155lb). A bunch of folks decided to stay and continue their training session - I was one of the obedient lemmings that went out into the parking lot. And totally killed all momentum. I finished the snatches, and that was it. At least I got something done today.

Today is an excellent day to be alive. Presses & squats FTW.

Press: 95x5, 145x3, 167.5x5,5,5, 165x4,3,3,3,2 (first reps of each set cleaned, 2:00 strict rest between sets)
    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 365x1, 380x5x5 (belt only, 3:00 rest between sets, strict)

    Time: 65 minutes
    BW: 242.5lb
    Program TMOL 2.3

Everybody at our house has a cold, which made training tough. Every set was a real push, but I got through them. I skipped chins, but I got the meat & potatoes done. And I know I'm better off for having done them.

Today's lunch: 1/2 rotisserie chicken (de-boned), 2 cups brown rice & quinoa mixture, & 1/2 package of mushrooms, salt & pepper. Delicious. It makes today's conference call so much better.

Got some decent work done today.

    Front Squats: 135x5, 225x3, 265x3x3
    Curl: (141x1)x5, 121x3x3, 101x5,5
Clean & jerk: Singles at 135-215 by 10s, dropped back to 205 and then 185 to get 20 reps total
    Chins: BW 6; BW+10: 4; BW+25: 2,3

    Time: 85 minutes
    BW: NM
    Program: TMOL 2.3

There were a few reps with press-outs on the C&J, but overall every rep was decent. This is the kind of training session that is my favorite - listening to Zappa, in my garage, working on getting stronger.

    Stay strong my friends.

A quick day of Columbus Day training.

    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 365x1, 410x5; PR - 5RM
    Push Press: 135x5, 183x3, 205x3, 215x3, 225x3, 235x1, 235x1, 235xF; PR - 3RM
Iso press - at highest position in rack, ~3 inches from start position: 135x 12 counts x 3 times
    Row: 135x10* (See notes below)
Pullups / KB swings: varied 4 grip widths on pullups (28 total in 8 sets), 200 swings in 9 sets

    Time: 69 minutes
BW: 244.2lb (on home scale, typically 2lbs higher than scale at gym)
    Program: TMOL 2.3

The 410x5 was okay. I have some video of it, which I'll post soon. The form was okay - there are definite areas to improve. I don't view it as a true 5RM - it just felt like I stopped at 5 reps. I decided to do some rows & abandoned that plan after one set, in favor of pullups & KB swings. As long as the meat & potatoes are there, it is fun to mix it up sometimes.
