Thanks Matt! I appreciate the suggestion you gave me of using the density blocks. As tough as the 7.5 minutes are, that's it. Once the time is up, the lifts are done. Lots of volume in a short amount of time.

    SQUATS and pullups.

    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 365x1, (405x3)x4, 405x6, 405x2;

    Pullups: 8,4,3

    Time: 40 minutes
    BW: 260.0lb

I ended up going to the gym late today. My goal was to do at least 18 reps at 395 or more, so I got that. In an effort to cut down on time, I skipped rows to do a test of pullups. The intensity during squats was pretty high, with low rest periods.

    Have a great weekend folks!

    WOW. TODAY WAS PR SUNDAY.

    Bench: 135x5, 225x5, 275x1, (285x7)x2, 305x4, (315x2)x2, 285x4, 265x7,5,3; PRs - 7RM & 4RM

    Curls: 135x1, (145x2)x2, (145x1)x5, 125x8, 125x6; PR - 8RM

    Time: 98 minutes
    BW: NM

Three new PRs today. F'n A. My arms currently feel like they will fall off, but that is the cost of doing some awesome work. Again, video is present, but will have to wait until this evening. I get to travel to CA again this week, so hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in some lifting at the local globe-o-gym. I'll make sure to document any absurdities for all of my garage-dwelling friends here.

    Stay strong folks.

Video proof of this past Sunday's fun.

Bench, 285x7. I was surprised that I got 7 reps on the first set at 285. I then attempted a set of 8. Holding it at the top was a mistake. A 7RM PR is almost as tasty as an 8RM PR.

Bench, 305x4. On further review, that last rep might have been possible - next time.

And now time for Big E's brofest. 125x8. There was a little body english in this set - I'll just have to lift heavier until I can crank out a set of 8 at 125 without body english.

    A real dud.

    Deadlifts: 245x5, 335x3, 425x1, 475x2,3,3,1,1,1

    Time: 32 minutes
    BW: NM

Deadlifts were super tough today. They felt considerably heavier than a mere 475. Probably due to lack of sleep, lack of coffee, standing around a test site all day, carrying pumps and piping spools, as well as undoing bolts that had been tightened with a three foot wrench.

    Next week will be better.

Another Saturday afternoon in the garage.

    Squat: 135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 365x1, 405x3, 425x3, 445x2, 455x2, (405x3)x4; PR - 2RM (LBBS, belt only)

    Rows: 185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x3, (275x5)x2, 225x10, 225x7; PR - 10RM

    Time: 90 minutes
    BW: NM

It is great to be home. The best way to celebrate a week of travel (i.e., not much training, eating a lot of junk food all week, little sleep, being crammed into an airplane seat for a few hours) is to get in the garage and move some weights. I got a call from my brother - I accidentally got completely cold before the last two sets, but I struggled through them anyway. I attempted some serious rows, but it was not to be.

I'm not particularly happy with my squat form. My depth is good, but I have some knee slide going on. Here it is. Honest critique welcomed.

    An unintentional PR…

    Curl: 135x1, 145x1, 155x1, (165x1)x4, (145x1)x4, 135x2, (135x3)x4; PR - 1RM

Time: not measured, but less than two hours
    BW: not measured

I wasn't planning on doing any training today. I was cleaning out the garage, and started thinking, "hmmm, maybe I could just do a little bit". There was some slight body english during the sets at 165 - I think I did more than 4, but I only counted the strictest four. I don't have video to document the PR, since training wasn't planned.

I was wondering a few posts back whether my programming for the curl is working. I've been curling twice per week, alternating a 7.5 minute density block with singles at ~90% (maybe a couple of doubles thrown in for funsies). Since I've been doing that, I've had two increases in the 1RM (10lb total). It works. Let's see where I can take this. YEAH!

    Press fest.

    Bench: 135x5, 225x5, 275x1, (290x2)x8

    Press: 135x5, 155x30 (7.5 minute density block)

    Time: 62 minutes
    BW: NM

Given my recent success in alternating a density block & heavy work in the curl, I decided to experiment on this method for the press. I started with 70% 1RM (155/220), with no belt. Wow. A press density block is MUCH harder than a curl block. One of the difficulties was taking it out of the rack each time. Perhaps taking it from the pins set at mid-chest height.

As any good engineer or scientist worth his or her salt would tell you - one test is no test. We'll see where I get to within a few weeks.

    Stay strong, folks!

Today is a great day to be alive.

    Deadlifts: 245x5, 335x3, 425x1, 475x3, 515x1, 565x1, 585x1, 605xF, 500x3, 475x2; PR - 1RM

    Time: 56 minutes
    BW: 259.0 lb

The first set of 475 went up nicely, so I decided to increase. 515 was really solid. 565 felt a little heavy, but nothing too serious. I added the tens and got a bunch of other folks to help with some yelling. I got it. 585!!! I held it at the top for a few seconds, and after I put it down, I let out a hearty Ric Flair "Wooooo!". I got greedy & tried 605, but it wasn't to be. I got it off the floor by about 4-5 inches.

I'm really happy about this one, and 605 is solidly on the horizon.

    Stay strong.

Nice... 6 plates! (if you weren't using 100# plates)
