I use the air death 3 times a week - Monday, Thursday & Friday. Monday is the day after my volume squats. Thursday is right after my intensity squat (I have no idea how I manage this - probably not optimal), and Friday is 2 days before my volume squats.
So far, it seems that it hasn't affected my squat or deadlift progression. That being said, there are a few on here who do conditioning the day before lower volume/intensity, and it seems to be working just fine for them. So as you mentioned, maybe you're getting used to the ABoD.
