Congrats! It took me a long time (a little over a year) to go from 285x2 to 315x1. Adding volume has helped me keep the momentum going. Maybe I'll hit 4 plates in 2025.

Thanks, guys!! I appreciate it. Now on to 315 for reps... I agree, volume seems to be key for me. I've been benching 3x a week, and I think that is the ticket.

    Tuesday 4/14/15

    Squat 2x5x45, 5x95, 3x135, 2x185, 1x225, 3x3x285
    Deadlift 5x135, 3x225, 3x3x295
    Dips 5xBW, 10/10/9x45

Squats felt pretty hard today. Deadlifts felt pretty easy. Go figure?

    Wednesday 4/15/15

    Squats 2x5x45, 5x95, 3x135, 2x185, 1x225, 2x8x245
    Bench 2x5x45, 4x135, 2x185, 3x8x230
    RDL 5x45, 5x135, 3x225, 2x8x275
    Chins 5x5

It might be time to finally work in that HIIT I've been threatening - sets of 8's in squats leave me gassed! That's just sad!! In other sad news, I weighed in at 220 this morning, meaning that had I done my heavy press today, I'd have done a bodyweight press. Oh well. We'll see what I weigh tomorrow and if I can finally get it!!

    Thursday 4/16/15

    Press 2x5x45, 5x9, 3x135, 2x185, 1x225 **New PR**
    Bench 2x5x45, 5x135, 3x185, 2x225, 4x3x285
    Curls 5x45, 3x10x105 + drop set

Hells yes! New press PR - at a bodyweight of 221. It felt really solid, too. Much better than my 220 last week. I've been chasing a bodyweight press for some time, so this feels pretty good. I guess its time to get some new goals!

Thanks, Bob! Still have some work to do to catch up to you...

    Friday 4/17/15

    Squat 2x5x45, 5x135, 3x185, 2x225, 1x275, 0x325, 1x315, 0x315
    Deadlift 5x135, 3x225, 1x315, 5x345
    Chins 7/7/6/5/4

Ouch. What a bad way to end an otherwise good training week! Not sure what happened on the squat. The 275 warmup felt like nothing. The 325 felt great till I got to the hole... and couldn't get back up. Then I missed my second attempt at 315? WTF?? On the positive side, the deads felt SUPER easy. Not sure if it was because I used a mixed grip vs a double overhand, but they felt great. Chins were a bit of a struggle.

I can pull a ton more with mixed grip vs. DOH so I'm sure that's why the deads felt easy. Perhaps the failed squat at 325 just wore you out. I know if I fail a lift it's tough to move anything close to that later in the workout.

I'm jealous of your OHP:bench ratio. I think I need to hit around a 365 bench to OHP 225.

I tried the hook grip, but man - what they say is right - it hurts!! I think I'm going to have to keep working on it, because I really don't like mixed grip.

I think OHP might be my favorite lift. I never did them much in the past, but when I started doing strength training a few years ago I started with them. I struggled at 95lbs at first, but I kept with them. I'm still doing press 1.0 - I tried to learn 2.0, but it never "took."

I have been in Columbus, GA for the past few days for work, so no training. I hit up some bench and OHP today, and I'll do some squats and deads tomorrow and resume regular programming next week.

    Thursday 4/23/15

    Bench 2x5x45, 5x95, 3x135, 2x185, 1x225, 3x5x275
    Press 2x5x45, 5x95, 3x135, 4/3/4x190
    Chins 7/7/6

Looks like my bench interferes when I do a 3x5 more than a max single. Makes sense. Bench felt great, though.
