Default My quest to be a bad ass Mother

It all started back in March, 2013. I had just completed my first 8-week fitness challenge at Riley Athletics. One of the trainers said that he was amazed at how strong I was and if I wanted to get REALLY strong then I should start strength training. I was intrigued by the idea that I could actually be strong again. I should mention that I used to be really strong. That was about 15 years ago when I rowed Crew and before I became the following (in order of importance) - workaholic, mother of two boys and mediocre wife. Anyhow, thought I should explain how I got here and where I heading.
I've been lifting heavy shit for the last 5 months and I was amazed that my one rep max total was 780 after just 4 months. My goal is to get to 900 by the end of the year. Is it realistic? I don't know, the one thing I do know is that I'm going to piss my pants getting there!
Here's my first log as suggested by my trainer. I consider John Hanley to be more of coach really because he is totally emotionally invested in his clients goals and has so much enthusiasm for the craft. I hope this log helps push me during challenging times. I know there will be many.

    Age: 38
    Height: 5'7
Weight: 205 I'm a big girl, its genetic. I would be the last one standing during a famine.

Notes - this week was amazing! I lifted on Monday and Thursday, metabolic strength training on Tuesday and Wednesday. More MST tomorrow. My energy has been off the charts. I must be producing some crazy ass amounts of hormones.

    235 for 3 sets of 5

Just wanted to highlight that shit for any 200# men under 40 who think 275 for 3x5 is good end-goal for Starting Strength squat programming.

Also, glad to see you on here, Lakshmi.

Welcome, and very impressive start! It's great to log here with other people (and women esp.) who work hard to be strong.

Two days off over the weekend so I was pretty excited to get in and work.
    Tonight went something like this
    Squat 5x45, 5x95, 3x175, 1x225, 237.5 3x5
    Bench 5x45, 5x95, 5x107, 5x120, 5x137
    DL 5x135, 3x225, 1x275, 5x305
    Prowlers - 7x :20-sec with 70added
My legs feel like giant bands that have been pulled back and then snapped, definitely need some foam rolling time in the morning.
Will attempt to get sleep tonight, really hard to shut off my brain lately.

    In. Very impressive.

I have sleep issues also. I find that putting earbuds in with soft music playing helps me pass out.
