    Thanks!

    Wednesday 15 November 2017

Deadlift - so last time I did 375. Got a little greedy this time:

    405 x 2 (2 rep PR)
405 x 1, and then a fail - started shaking and feeling things tugging so I aborted it about halfway up
    375 x 1

Front squat do a top rep and then three sets of 2-3 reps at 90% of that - I'm still unfamiliar with this movement, though:
    275 x 1
    315 x nope haha
    250 x 2
    250 x 3
    250 x 2

I could probably do a 315 front squat if I could stay upright.

    Press doubles

175 x 2 (weight PR and two rep PR)
    175 x 2
    175 x 2

These were tough but my form was fine. There's more progress in the bag, which feels good.

The plumber came out at this point. My kitchen sink was clogged. I had routed out the pipes under the sink and traveling into the basement and out the wall but couldn't get too far out to the sewer pipes. He starts with his industrial snake and then says "uh oh, I'm getting mud." The pipe had collapsed and broke under the ground outside. I guess the ground just shifts with freeze/thaws and eventually they sometimes break.

I'm thinking it's a $2,000 repair but he's like "nah, it's not too deep, just gotta dig." I helped him a bit and he replaced it all with PVC and even put a pipe access upwards that'll be in the yard for easier access. $340.

    Press 10-12's
    140 x 9
138 x 9 (dusted off the Dan Miller microplates)
    135 x 10
120 x 5 just to make up some reps

    Side delt raises: 15 lbs x 20 x 5

Apparently this is called the French press: overhead barbell tricep extensions
    80 x 9
    75 x 10
    75 x 10
    80 x 10

    Lying tricep extensions:
    85 x 10
    75 x 15
    75 x 10
    70 x 15

We had a similar situation recently--turned out the main line leaving the house was full of holes just past the house for about 10 feet. Thankfully none of it was under the house--ours is on a slab--and it was a similar 'dig and replace' job. The old main line was asbestos pipe passed the house, but iron underneath.

    Congrats on the press pr!

Thanks! Yeah I think this was clay, we have a lot of ancient clay pipe here, I hear it keeps the plumbers in business. We replaced with PVC though so hopefully we're good for a while.

Lol I wouldn't put it past me. I think my dips are kinda like that:

    Saturday 25 November 2017

    Deadlift 8's
    325 x 7 - phoned in this performance
    300 x 8 x 2

Wasn't feeling it. I stopped following the diet and I think this has the simultaneous effect of packing on more pounds (eating too much fat) and leaving me with no energy (not eating enough carbs).

    Monday 27 November 2017

    Press 8's
    150 x 8
    150 x 7 - long failure on the 8th
    145 x 8 - a real grind

Quit for the morning after this. After this my left shoulderblade hurt where it always does when I pull it. Just hurts no matter what position my arm is in unless I'm laying with it over my head. This has happened probably 5-6 times over the past few years of lifting. I asked Baker and Petrizzo about it and it's basically nothing.

However: I came home and did the rest of the workout:

    Weighted dips:
    25 lb plate x 10
    35 lb x 10
    45 lb x 10
    45 lb x 10
    50 lb x 10

Front/side/rear delt raises x 10-15 reps x 5 rounds......used a 45 lb barbell for the front raises and 20-25 lb dumbbells for everything else.

Couldn't raise or use my arms after this, but my shoulderblade stopped hurting so much. I guess the moral of the story is don't baby it!

Hah! My dips are the same. A bit crappy. I think I'm scared of hurting my shoulders too.

Nice work on doing all that delt work. 5 rounds was way too much for me!
