Fuck a bunch of golden ratio. Work for big legs and big arms and let the numbers do whatever. As you point out, the thought of trying to reduce the size of your legs to hit a ratio is cringe worthy.
Fuck ideal, I'm not convinced it exists (but if it does I'm far from it too).
I'm at ~1.55. Too many more of these 8 rep squat sets and I might hit that ratio I don't give a shit about.
