You're making PRs all over the place: bench, chins, press! Congrats
You seem to have the Press 2.0 form down much better than I do, despite the timing. I need to rewatch the video.
Good luck on your meet this weekend.

That's not always a bad thing. Good luck, I will look forward to seeing how you go. Thanks for the power clean kudos. I did deload a little, in an effort to hit them more consistently.
Bruises on the quads are normal, right?!
Cheers I need to rewatch the video too. It was very helpful. I have been experimenting a little however with a slight variation- it has an extra movement forward to build momentum. Coach helped me with it, but I fear I don't perform it as intended.
Week 3
Monday 21/9/15
Squat
5x5 @ 75kg
Bench
3x5 @ 55kg *PR
Deadlift
1x5 @ 120kg *Equal PR
Chins
3x5 @ 7kg* PR
Wednesday 23/9/15
Squat
2x5 @ 59kg
Press
3x3 @ 34kg. Was meant to be 3x5.
Friday 25/9/15
I played around with the foam roller, lacrosse ball and voodoo bands for about 30 min.
Squat 2x5 @ 20kg
Bench 2x5 @ 20kg
Saturday 26/9/15
Novice meet at Bar Loaded, Unanderra.
Squat 87.5/92.5/95 kg
Bench 55/60/62.5x kg
Deadlift 122.5/130/135 kg
At 66kg BW.
I played it conservative on the squat, what with just starting the TM. It was easier to listen to the calls, and focus on my form. I think I am getting better at lifting in front of people. One thing I tried differently was to remain caffeine-free (at least until the deadlift.) This seemed to help.
The 60kg bench was a meet PR, and an equal training PR. Based on the bar speed of 60kg, I didn't think 62.5kg would go up, but with the insistence of the meet organiser, a pep talk and an interesting introduction to his ammonia smelling salts, I gave it a shot. I got it half way up. Next time!
The deadlift was an outright 5kg PR, and with white lights, I was pretty happy. You could even say, I was a Happy Little Vegemite.
Lessons from the Day:
Car Karaoke = good
No Caffeine = good
Ammonia Salts = uncontrollable laughing and choking. Interesting combination.
On a more serious note, it was enjoyable, and I am excited to continue training for the next meet.
I can feel the 'POWER' on your powerclean.
Awesome!!
Cheers I am trying to improve 'strike rate' and consistency with these.
Week 4
Video Log Weeks 3 & 4 :https://youtu.be/HT5U6cceujk
I have decided to deload my squats considerably. Coach Campitelli kindly helped me with this, after I reported that the intensity day squats were rather a grind. He explained that while the % deload and the time to return to where I left off (1 month) were similar to that of a male trainee, the absolute deload in kilograms (4kg) was not sufficient to allow for recovery post linear progression.
So, I moved to 75kg for 1x5 on intensity day. This was actually tough, so I will be making 1kg weekly jumps from here on.
Wednesday 30/9/15
Squat
5x5 @ 67.5kg
Bench
3x5 @ 52kg
Deadlift
1x5 @ 110kg. I really wanted to work on keeping my back straight, in both the sagittal and coronal planes. I was reviewing the previous weeks deads, and I lose shape as soon as the bar leaves the floor. I also move into right lateral flexion.
Friday 2/10/15
Squat
2x5 @ 54kg
Press
2x5 @ 32.5kg
1x4, 1x1 @ 32.5kg
Power Clean
5x3 @ 52kg.
Chins
3x5 @ 5kg
Saturday 3/10/15
Squat
1x5 @ 75kg. This was pretty tough; it was odd to think I had completed 5x5 at the same weight a little over a week earlier. I needed to lift two days in a row this week, perhaps that is why.
Bench
3x5 @ 53kg
Deadlift
2x5 @ 103.5kg
Chins
3x5 @ 5kg
Texas Method Week 5
The most difficult thing about training this week was fitting it in. Thus, the 'week' extended out a bit. Nonetheless, training is more or less on the right track. I'm very glad I took the squat deload. With the benefit of hindsight, it was the correct decision.
Wednesday 7.10.2015
Squat
5x5 @ 68.5kg
Bench
1x1 @ 54kg. Failed on the 2nd rep. It was 9pm. As far as I am concerned, that is bedtime. I am most certainly an early bird. However, some training is better than none! So...
3x5 @ 50kg
Deadlift
1x5 @ 115kg
Chins
3x5 @ 6kg
Saturday 10.10.2015
Squat
2x5 @ 55kg
Press
5x3 @ 35 kg
Power Clean
5x3 @ 55kg
Chins
3x5 @ 6kg
Monday 12.10.2015
Squat
1x5 @ 76 kg
Bench
4x3 @ 55kg
1x2 @ 55kg
Deadlift
1x3 @ 120kg
Chins
2x5 @ 8kg
1x4 @ 8kg
Awesome lifting happening here! Your squat form is really nice.
On the bench, have you considered keeping the entire foot on the floor? That way you could utilize leg drive to help get the bar up.
Strong work. Also, vegemite is delicious.
Thanks Kessg. It is timely that you mention it. I want to compete in a sanctioned meet next year, and I am very sure that I will be required to keep my entire foot on the ground. So, I should start working on that now.
Cheers Root. You clearly have impeccable taste and extraordinary intelligence.
Texas Method Week 6
Wednesday 14/10/15
Squat
5x5 @ 69.5kg
Bench
5x3 @ 55kg
Deadlift
2x5 @ 109kg
Chins
3x5 @ 8kg
Saturday 17/10/15
Squat
2x5 @ 55.5kg
Press
2x3 @ 35.5kg
1x2 @ 35.5kg
1x3 @ 35.5kg
1x2 @ 35.5kg
1x3 @ 35.5kg
It sums to 5x3...still counts? The margin for error is small. If I don't keep it mechanically sound, I miss the third.
Power Clean
5x3 @ 56kg
Monday 19/10/15
Squat
1x5 @ 77kg
Bench
5x3 @ 56kg *PR
Deadlift
1x3 @ 122kg. It was meant to be five...but I wasn't too surprised. Juggling a lot of assignments and exams at the moment, however I am getting better at not stressing too much about them.
Chins
3x5 @ 8kg
