    I've felt a bit worn down lately, so I scaled back on squats today.

    At least I got a 5-rep PR on bench press. (I'd previously done 200x4.) (And I'm doing independent sets for these, so adding weight to the sets I hit 5 on.)

    I need to be careful about getting my grip right. My first attempt at set 5 was a complete failure. The bar was a little bit back in my hands, and it rolled back a bit on the descent of the first rep, and I couldn't recover. I tried again with a better grip.

    The good news: a deadlift PR. The bad news: I wussed out and just went for a single rep. I did try for a second single after a minute or so, but that one didn't go up. I'll try for 5 next week.

    Congratulations on the PR!

    On the last rep of 5 was wondering if you were going to put the weight down.
    Seemed like a long pause, maybe just taking in the view from the top?

    Thanks, Paul. Yeah, I was just trying to hold it at the top for as long as possible. Felt like at least 10 seconds, but the video says otherwise.

    I'm back up to where I finished my LP. I never got 315x5, so this makes a 5-rep PR. I should hit a true PR next week.

    I decided to drop the "descending rest" thing and just go to 9 minutes across the board.

    Attempted 4x7 as 2x(2x7), with 1 minute rest inside the parentheses and 7 minutes rest outside. This may have been a bit aggressive. I managed 2 on my last set before collapsing in an exhausted heap.

    I'll be watching closely to see how you like HLM. I just started myself. I'm doing things a little differently at first, with 3x5 on all days but varying load as per Andy's article on HLM. We'll see if it's enough volume.
