240x5: no video due to senile dementia

I guess I can start counting PR's here. My best set of 5 is 117.5, and my best set of 3 is 122.5. I'm not sure when to go to 2.5-lb jumps here. I wasn't sure these were going to go up, but they went up without too much difficulty -- no grinders, certainly. I may try 125x4 when I get there in a few weeks. We'll see how the 8's and 6's go.

Deadlift (5 minutes rest between backoff sets):

Just in case anyone wants to see a deadlift fail video. It could be that I'm deadlifting too soon after my last session (last Thursday instead of last Tuesday). Or maybe I didn't do enough last workout (370x1 and only one backoff set at 315). It's all conjecture, the only certain thing is I missed this lift.
Looks like you were just a touch on your toes. See how you fell forwards? 2 missed days of recovery is probably a factor as well.

And while you're doing that, Lou's leaving us both behind.

Thanks, Adam. I guess it does pay to post your failure videos.

So, I'm guessing I should insert step 4.5 into my setup ("Before you start the pull, get the weight back off of your toes.") and concentrate on pushing my mid-foot through the floor.

It looked like to tweaked something. You ok?

Adam is spot on (as usual)
FWIW I compared your last dl to the failed one. your set up seems pretty consistent. The failed attempt it is rather noticeable as the bar initially moves off the floor your entire body moves forward and towards the left side (torqued)(supernated grib) The angle doesn't allow to see if the bar comes away from your shins, I imagine it probable does some.

my cue is to drive my heels into the ground and push the floor away.

I used to use alt grip. I started hooking about 12 weeks ago. No turning back now.

I have a love hate thing with deadlifts.

Hi, Lou. Thanks for the concern, but I'm okay. I did feel a slight tweak in my lower back when the bar hit the ground (thus the grunt on the video), but nothing persisted from it.

I didn't notice that when I first watched the video, but now that you point it out, I can see it.

I haven't yet joined the hook grip death cult. Maybe I should give it some thought. I do have a fondness for my thumbs, though.

Your thumbs have absolutely no rights under either the Geneva Conventions or the 8th Amendment.

So you admit that the hook grip is cruel and unusual punishment!
