the sad thing is that when UVA is the first 'ranked' team you've played all year, then my friend your schedule is beyond pathetic

Default 2019/12/10 -- heavy bench, light press

    Bench press:
    250x2
    250x1+f
    250x1

On the failure, the bar headed towards my head more quickly than I could control, so I bailed.

    Seated press:
    125x5x5

    Press:
    155x1

    Squats:
    295x5
    295x5
    295x5

The fact that I've lost about 13 pounds over the last year may explain why I can tighten my belt one more notch.

    Chins:
    5x3 + 5x2 (EMOM)

I had thought to do 10x3, but I decided to go a little easier in hopes of not aggravating my elbow.

Default 2019/12/16 -- heavy bench, light press

    Bench press:
    217.5x8
    217.5x7
    217.5x6+f

Well, at least it was a good 8-second grinding failure.

    Seated press:
    125x3+f
    115x5
    120x5x3

These are hard after doing sets of 8 (or not) on bench.

The pins are set high enough that I won't get crushed under the bar, but low enough that I'm in danger of a good bonk on the nose if the bar lands just right. Lucky for me (and I wasn't thinking about this at the time), those plates on the side of the rack didn't let the bar come all the way down over my face.

Were you trying to get it back on the hooks after it became clear you wouldn't lock it out? The storage plates definitely appear to have saved you a facial rearrangement. Glad that you made it out unscathed. Nobody wants to get scathed.

Yep, that's exactly what I was trying to do. I kept pushing, hoping I would get the bar high enough to clear the hooks.
