I think I need to move my "volume" press days (nominally the "8's" day of the 8/5/2/progression that's been slowly devolving as I approach PR territory) out of the same week as my volume bench press days. I was still sore from Monday's bench press workout, which may have impacted my workout today.
Or maybe I could swap press and bench press days so I'm fresher for press without hurting bench press day too much.
