Nice. If I play (piano) within a couple hours of dead lifting heavy the fingers feel a little stiff for a few minutes, but it's not any worse than going in with cold hands. I had my first piano lesson in more than 30 years a few weeks ago. Feel dumb.

Have you kept it up over the years, or are you basically starting fresh?

Not at the level I was at in school, but some. I did classical in school. I was never much of a jazz player though I can fake my way through a bit of basic blues playing. I’ve learned a bunch of Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, standards, etc. by rote... so that fools a few people too. I think I do pretty well with tricky rhythms, poly-rhythms, etc. although I wonder if I could pull that stuff off and stay together with other musicians. I might have turned into the church lady, the one that plays by her own clock and everyone else has to follow her.

Yeah, that probably describes the trajectory of most musicians, including me. Then I had an operation a few years ago to fix a congenital defect that had always held me back, and I started taking lessons again. Now I get to play all the good stuff I always dreamed of playing.
