Was gunning for 3 triples at 230. Was really weak on these for some reason.

Friday's session pushed to Saturday. Sleep has been pretty bad lately and was really bad last night. Completely exhausted coming into this session.

    Deadlift (V)
    335x2x8
2-3 mins between sets. A little challenging but moved well.

Press starts + strict press (supersets)
    175x1 + 125x5 x 4
Only rest between the 2 movements was the annoying task of loading and unloading the plates. Used the big plates this time so it was like a 3 lb jump from last week.

Approximately a 0.0% chance I was staying awake for squats after all this.

    Ambw 223.6 lb

    Press (I)
    160x1
    162.5x1
    165xFx3
    150x1xF
    150x3
    150xF (misgrooved forward)
    150x3x2
    165xFx2
Cluster of a session. Goal was to work keep going up on singles until I failed. Figured I'd be good for at least a small PR @167.5. Took me a few extra sets of failing to hit my backoff goal of 150x3x3. Groove started to feel a little better so I tried going back to singles to mo avail.

    Bench (L)
    205x4x3

Last heavy day before end of the month PR test

    Paused Deadlift
    325x4x2

    Squat
    270x5
Felt beyond shitty, had to cut it after 1 set. Real late start, starving for lunch. Elbow hurt. Groin hurt. Allergies were killing me. Excuses excuses.

    Ambw 223.6 lb

Baby/puppy both woke up an hour early at 5 today, and didn't start lifting until almost 9. Surprisingly not as exhausted as some night sessions.

    Press (V)
    145x5 5RM
    145x4x4

    Bench
    215x3x3

    Deadlift (V)
    345x2x8
About 20 minutes total to complete. A little challenging but felt solid.

Press starts + strict press supersets
    174x1 + 127.5x4 X 4

Late start and was completely exhausted so I didn't squat. Was difficult to force myself into the garage at all instead of my bed.

Light/prep week next week then hopefully a press and deadlift PR after that!!

Got a halfway decent night of sleep last night after a week or so of terrible sleep and constant exhaustion.

Last week of mock meet (press/pull) prep/taper:

    Press
    160x1
    145x4x3
160 absolutely flew. Only 5 lb off my PR so that's a positive heading into next week. I would be thrilled with 170+

    Deadlift
    365x3x2
    Not easy at all.

Last lift before the big day next Monday will be a strict press + light squat and bench later in the week.

    Super easy

    Squat (L)
    225x5x2
    Super easy

    Quite challenging

End of mock meet taper. Gonna try to get some halfway decent sleep this weekend and hopefully set a press and pull PR on Monday!!

    starting strength coach development program
    Mock press/pull meet

    Ambw 223.6 lb

    Press
    160
    167.5 (+2.5 lb PR)
    175 (+10 lb PR)
180 (*+15 lb PR, but see notes)
So the plan was that if I made my PR @167.5 I would go for 170-75 depending how it moved. Felt great so I went for 175 and SMOKED it. Super clean rep. Decided I had to take advantage of what I had in the tank and went for 180. It was grindy and the bar very slightly made a downward movement about halfway up the rep so I suppose it still counts as a gym PR since I locked it out. Superrrrrr stoked how my presses went. Didn't know if 175 was even in the cards for a lifetime PR given my past struggles with this lift.

    Deadlift
    375
    415 (FAIL)
415 would have been a +5 lb PR but it only budged about an inch. Slightly strained my left hammy wrestling with the kids yesterday morning. Was hoping it wouldn't be a factor today but I'm pretty sure it was. Really wanted to pull something in the 425-440 range but oh well, wasn't meant to be.

Time to transition to summer programming which is basically minimum dose to maintain strength the best I can so I'm ready to hit the ground running again in the fall.
