The lifting Gods saw me starting to finally make some gainzzz, so they struck me with a stomach virus. Was vomiting all night Monday into Tuesday morning. Laid up in bed all day and night Tuesday without eating anything. Ate a little bit Weds, more on Thurs. Finally feeling better today but strength wasn't all there. Didn't weigh in but I'm sure I'm down a few lb.

Hit all the weights I was supposed to do for doubles this week:

    Squat
    280x1x2

    Press
    140x1x3

    Deadlift
    355x1x2

These reps were basically all ball busters. Sucks not to get them for smooth doubles across like I has been doing, but I'm happy to be able to do something. This was my 12th week of KSC and with kid #2 coming on Weds 3/1 next week is supposed to be a deload week. Then who knows, probably training without a plan doing whatever I can to maintain strength for a while until I'm able to find a normal training schedule again.

Was going to hit the Airdyne on Saturday but got asked to run with girls Varsity again. I felt strong and so much better than Monday conditioning wise. They start State playoffs tonight.

    Today:

    218.0

    Press
    142.5x1 PR, 129x3, 115x7
2.5 lb PR! Hard but fairly smooth, maybe had another 2.5 lb in me, probably not though. Given the actual weights of the plates I used the total was 144.7 + spring clips...so 145!?!?.

    Bench
    227.5x1 PR, 205x3, 182.5x7
Another 2.5 lb PR! Failed it once, then tried it again and felt like it paused 2-3 times and took about 15 seconds to lock out. Actual weight = 230.3.

    Chins
    5x5

Decided against deload week given that I was rolling along so smoothly prior to getting sick, and I didn't get in a lot of my volume last week. Plus the baby is coming in 2 days (scheduled C), so I wanted to get in a couple decent sessions while I know I can. For this reason I'll be squatting and pulling tomorrow. Just doing Andy's training without a plan protocol for the time being. Work up to a heavy single then backoffs. Once we're settled into a new routine and I find time to train consistently I plan on jumping right back into KSC.

Wanted 4 PR's in 2 days...guess that was too greedy. I should have gone lighter on Fri.

    Squat
    285x1, 305xF, 260x2, 230x5
255 flew like 135. 285 was hard but smooth. Thought for sure I'd hit 305 solidly for a little PR, but I barely made it out of the hole. Backoffs were not easy but not pushed to the max.

    Deadlift
    350x1, 400xFx3, 380xF, 325x5
350 was so easy. Felt like the opener of a set of 5, so I thought I had 400 in me. Tried mixed, then straps, then mixed again, and the best I could manage was a cm or 2. 380 would have been a little PR but wouldn't budge either. Did manage to set a 5lb 5rm after all that jazz.

If I have time to do anything else this week it will be lighter barbell work + conditioning.

You probably won't have time to see this AFTER it happens, so...congratulations on the new addition to your family.

    Thanks gentlemen.

Baby is healthy and happy as can be. Wife and I are truly blessed. Was ready to get on the weights again yesterday but I'm on the 4th day of a fairly nasty head cold. Felt probably about 85% better today, almost dizzy enough to bag it, but said screw it, it's been 8 days since I've lifted, let me just start warming up my squat and see how I feel. Glad I did, pretty good session!

    Squat
    290x1, 262.5x3, 232.5x8
290 was hard, but not a ball buster. Briefly flirted with going for a PR at 305, but decided not to push my luck and make sure I had time to get some bench in.

    Bench
    225x1, 202.5x3, 180x7
Same thing...225 was very heavy but not an all out grinder. Briefly thought about adding 5 lb and trying a pr, but decided I better wait till next time and try it fresh. Surprised I was able to even hit these weights given diet and obviously sleep haven't been great, and the fact I'm still a little bit sick.

Still trying to fight off this damned cold I've had for over a week now.

    Press
    145x1 PR, 130x3, 115x6
Press is so weird. 125x2 and 135x1 were heavy and a little slow. Almost called 135 my single figuring I hadn't pressed in 12 days and was still a little sick, but decided what the hell, I'll give 140 a try and see what happens. 140 absolutely flew, so I had to go for the PR and just barely grinded it out. Actual weight was 147.2 so I'm getting pretty damned close to 150.

    Deadlift
    380x1 PR, 340x2, 300x6
Lumbar may have slightly rounded on 380, but I'm happy I got it considering I'd only pulled 375 once and failed it more times than that. Actual weight 383.2, so less than 17 lb from 400 which is my current #1 lifting goal.

Not my day...felt pretty beat up from PR's last week, especially DOMS in the lumbar from pulling on Sat. Didn't push anything to the max, didn't want any serious grinding today.

    Squat
    275x1, 250x4, 225x6
250 was the only set that was a little challenging, although 275 wasn't super easy.

    Bench
    205x1, 185x4, 165x8
195x2 warmup was heavy and slow, so I only went up to 205, which for some reason flew. Still didn't feel like pushing higher after that.

Edit: forgot to mention that head cold I had never went away and was actually a bacterial infection. Been on antibiotics for a little over 24h but still wasn't 100% for this session.

    starting strength coach development program
Forgot to mark in the last entry 2 sets of 5 chins. Also didn't have any caffeine that day.

    Press
    140x1, 147.5xFx3, 127.5x4, 112.5x6
140 was smooth, tried thrice for the 2.5 lb PR and it wasn't there today. First rep came out of the bottom the smoothest and got stuck on my fucking beanie (thick front part). Tried again hatless and let it get out in front, third attempt wasn't even close.

    Deadlift
    365x1, 385x1 PR
2 PR pulls in 6 days! Almost decided to squat today instead of pull figuring I'd still be shot from 380 last Saturday. Decided I'd just work up and keep it light if I needed to. 315x2 was easy, 365 was smooth, so said eff it and went for it. It was a crazy grinder and nearly stalled out on me, but I stuck with it and I think it would have been white lighted. Actual weight 388.2 lb.

Ran out of time so no backoffs.
