    Catch-up Engaged:

I'm still working with Nick Delgadillo as an SSOC client. Nick has been fantastic, and his programming and coaching is top notch. I haven't been motivated enough to update the app and my log, and so my log has suffered. I need to update my paper log, too.

There was a period of time where I was in the process of moving to Chicago to move in with my girlfriend. Later in that process she broker her kneecap. Those two combined with some rough days at work made it desirable for me to drop to 2x week training instead of 3x a week. Nick programmed that up and you can see it in my log. It was a rough patch, and things calmed down a bit in October and we got back to work.

I'm back on normal work now, but still in Advanced Remedial™ Deadlift School. It seems to be helping and I feel like I'm getting better control over my lower back as well as making strength progress on my pulls. I think the trouble will still be learning to keep the low back in focus when it's time to grind through a 1RM, but this programming is certainly giving me the best tools to work through that.

I think my all time best training squat was 405x5 with a set of back-offs after, and I'm within striking distance of that now, which is motivational. Weights are generally feeling good these days, and bodyweight has been holding steady.

The plan right now is to head down to a Texas Strength Lifting meet in the spring. I'm hoping to pull and squat more than 500lbs in the 100kg class. I don't know what I'd like to press but bodyweight is a bare minimum requirement for me, personally.

I'm heading off to Spain this Saturday with my lady, and Nick is suggesting instead of running around and trying to train I enjoy my trip. He says that since I'm not deep into my intermediate training (having just gotten back to it) I really won't sacrifice anything by not lifting next week. He's a smart dude and I trust him, and goodness knows my lady would love not hearing about the gym or seeing a food scale for a week while we're on a trip out of the country. I'm a nose to the grindstone kind of guy so a week off just makes me nervous.

Normal updates to follow moving forward.

    SQ:
A little loose and some knees slide on the heavies. Take 40lbs off the bar and things always clean up.

    Press:
Heavy near the end and it's hard to get tight. I just didn't want to lose this fight, so I decided to stick it out or get squished trying.

    DL:
Back was loose and I felt it on 2 and 3. Cleaned it up a bit. And, again, take some weight off the bar and things get easier and hence better.

    Thanks, M-Love.

The goal right now is 500+ on the pull and the squat in Spring.

Things felt pretty good today. Tempo squats keep making me blow a fuse around my eyes, and then I get blemishes for about 2 days. I wonder if this is normal or if I'm letting my valsalva get a little too much into my head at the bottom of the tempo squat.

SLDLs are forward of midfoot. Not so great.

Pretty cool to press 180 over head for a set. All in all things were feeling pretty good this day. Nice session before a week off.
