Sometimes the summer heat here in New Mexico where I live can really drain you. But if I start my workout in the morning it's usually not too bad. I guess you must see some cold winters in Norway!I prefer the heat. Cold temperatures really slow me down.
Thanks, Jan! Now just 100 pounds more to get to 1100!Nice work getting over 1000 pounds again!
Today was supposed to be a rest day but I have to drive my wife to the airport tomorrow--4 hours round-trip--so I thought I'd lift today instead.
This week I start a new cycle of 5s with the Strength and Mass After 40 program. Today: heavy press, light bench:
Press: 142.5x5x3 (weight, reps, sets); 6 to seven minutes rest. I was surprised that these felt solid. The bar went up faster than I thought it would.
CGBP: 200x7; 200x6; 200x5; five minutes rest. I'll stick with this weight until I hit 8 reps and don't fall below 5 on any set.
LTE: 92.5x10x3; four to five minutes rest. I'll go up to 95 next week.
Overhead triceps extension with dumbbell:32.5x12x3; four minutes rest. I'll try 35 next week, which will be a bit of a jump for this exercise, but I don't have any increments smaller than that with my dumbbells.
Nice job, Yoda. I like it. Basic and 'breviated. Get to it, knock it outta the ballpark and run the bases!
Kinda like the way I do it!
Thanks, Oldster. I'm really enjoying Andy Baker's Strength & Mass after 40 program--well worth the $25 to download. Each workout is challenging but not draining. I think it's helped me get past a few sticking points, especially with my bench. Is your strep throat gone now?
(I'm deleting a double post.)
