If you can turn Yoda on, it stands to reason not to turn him off again. Leave the little dude simmering...

Maybe the next Star Wars movie should get into Yoda's love life, maybe introduce a Yodette. Can you imagine the courtship dialog?

Continuing this week with sets of five for the main lifts. Today: heavy squat/upper back.

Squat: 320x5x3, belt, seven minutes rest. The fifth rep of each set was hard but not too grindy.

Chins, bodyweight: 11, 10, 10, five to seven minutes rest.

Single-arm dumbbell rows: 66.25x10x3, five minutes rest. I'll try 11 or 12 reps next week with the same weight.

Dumbbell curls: 32.5 (each) x8x3. I'll try 10 reps next week. I'm still babying my right biceps.

I'm sounding like a broken record...nice lifts, nice lifts, nice lifts.

But it's true, they are nice.

Thanks, BD. Looks like our numbers (and ages) are pretty close. I'll turn 64 in ten days.

Thanks, Jan. I bet you must have some cold workout days during the winter.

Rode the airdyne yesterday for 35 minutes, and did a couple of 15-rep sets of kneeling ab wheel rollouts.
Today: heavy bench for sets of five/light press.

Press: 135x3x5 (weight, reps, sets), 90 seconds rest, no belt.

Bench: 217.5x5x3, seven minutes rest. These felt strong. Should be able to do 220 for the next cycle of 5s.

Incline dumbbell press: 70 pounds (each dumbbell, so 140 total) x8x3, six minutes rest. I'll stick with the same weight and try for 9 or 10 reps next week.

Dips with 45 pounds x10x3, six minutes rest. I'll try 47.5 next week.

Man, benching 220 for sets, dipping 45lb for high reps, and pressing the plates overhead for many sets, all at the age of 64!

#ForeverImmortalYoda (yeah, redundant, but I like it!)

...all at the age of 64!
And then there's that Oldster guy, with his 200-pound presses, and his 300+benches on his "light" days...#OldsterEatsSithsForBreakfast

Finishing up the 5s week of the current cycle. Today: heavy dead/light squat.

Squat: 270x3x5 (weight, reps, sets); no belt, two minutes rest.

Dead: 390x5x3, straps, six to seven minutes rest. These all felt relatively easy, except the strap ate into my hand on the first set causing some weird nerve pain, which vanished immediately after I put the bar down. Loosened up the straps for the remaining sets and the pain went away.

SLDL: 340x8x1, 340x6x1; straps, six minutes rest. 345 next week.

BB shrugs: 260x15x3, straps, four minutes rest. 265 next week.
