    Rehab, day 4:

More deads: 55x25, 65x25, 75x25. Still feeling good. No pain or even discomfort. So maybe I just had a minor pull, not a tear. Still using ice about every hour for 20 minutes. Today is the day I was planning to compete in a meet. Can't complain--I guess it could always be worse!

Glad to read that you think it's a pull and not a tear. Did you find any discoloration anywhere near the problem area?

As to the meet - pour yourself a couple of finger of scotch and plan for your next opportunity.

I haven't seen any discoloration--so I guess that's a good sign. And I don't have any trouble putting weight on the leg, or walking. I do notice a slight soreness, barely there.

Ah, the scotch remedy: sound medical advice! Might have to try that. i'm surprised it's not included as a standard part of the Starr rehab protocol.

Good to know that you haven't seen any bruising. When I had a groin pulls / tear, I had considerable bruising - and I really didn't think I hurt myself that badly at the time.

Carry on with the rehab...and Scotch!

It seems like you've made a good recovery, Browndog. As for me...

Rehab, day 5, aka all deadlifts, all the time:

65x25, 75x25, 85x25. Still feeling okay; no pain. Rest about two minutes between sets. Ice pack on the back of my right leg now for 15 minutes.

Okay, one full week into the rehab program:

Day 7: Deadlifts: 85x25, 95x25, 105x25. Two minutes rest. All good.

    Day 8 of my rehab:

Deadlifts:95x25, 105x25, 115x25. No pain at all in my hamstring. After 15 or so reps I do start to feel my grip weaken a bit. (I'm doing double overhand for all these sets of 25.) And after all three sets my lower back definitely feels the effect of 75 repetitions.

    Day 9:

Deads: 105x25, 115x25, 125x25. Three to four minutes rest, mostly for the sake of my grip. All the reps felt good. My right leg--the one with the hamstring pull--felt basically normal today.

Tomorrow: my last day of 25s. Saturday I'll do 15s; Sunday 10s; Monday 5s. If all goes well, I'll start linear programming on Tuesday, and then give myself a month or so to get close to where I was before the injury.

Day 10, last day of 25s, hurray!

Deads: 115x25, 125x25, 135x25. About four minutes rest. Felt a bit sore before I started, felt good by the time I finished. Tomorrow: sets of 15. I'll try 135, 155, and 175.
