Fixed the knee kick in my press( or just got better at sneaking it in :-p ). Still don’t know how I feel about Rows, I know that Reynolds and them are big on programming them, but I can’t help to think that I’m just slinging the bar around. Maybe they will have some carryover to my DL once I start adding weight.
Happy with everything today. PRs across again! May have to take a one lb jump on my press next session, that last rep was a sloppy Grinder, but it went.

Was battling a stomach bug with a slight fever, just wanted to get something in, felt like dog shit.
Since I’m considering entering a Strength meet, I figured that I would set the stage for kind of like a mock meet. Squat felt good and fresh, think that I tapered it off really well, nailed the 495! Same for my press, finally getting 200 overhead( unfortunately I thought that I was recording but never hit the record button, so no video, which sucks). I don’t know what happened with my DL. Either I didn’t choose my attempts correctly, or I was just spent from the squat and press. This was the first time that I ever took out PR singles for the Squat and DL during the same session, but I have trained them heavy on the same day for quite some time. Could be that the hamstring tweak from about a month back has something to do with it , or whatever, but it just wasn’t there, so no PR DL, but that’s ok. About to go on vacation for a couple of weeks, then I’ll be back at it!

Heeyyyyyy just realized this was your log (know you from FB) and the first frickin post was about you having diarrhea and smoking too much weed lol...
Thank you for making my morning, and congrats on your 200lb press!

Thanks Dave! Yea, I’ve been anticipating the #200 press for a while, and this kind of puts me up to the standard finally. It’s taking me some time to grasp the mechanics of the Olympic Press, but it’s finally paying off. I’m still blazing up occasionally, but I’ve learned that moderation is key here. My wife just baked an awesome batch of brownies! Kind of helps with coming off of the “ high” from heavy training sessions!

So, first session back after two weeks layoff. Whew, I think that my body prefers adapting to sitting on the beach and margaritas rather than Strength training. As usual, I detrained rather quickly. I always hate resetting/programming upon returning after a layoff. You want to choose your loads appropriately; nothing to aggressive but yet not to conservative. In Hindsight, I think that I should’ve been a bit more conservative and maybe “ramped” back up really fast on subsequent workouts. Think I tweaked my hammy again on that set of squats, how severe, don’t know yet. I suspect it will be tolerable. Hopefully it is just one of those acute/discomfort things from laying off. Interestingly enough though, it happens to be the same ham that I tweaked a little over a month ago while pulling a PR DL set. Presses felt pretty heavy. Did the first set 1.0 style and I was like nah, back to the Olympic format on subsequent sets. Rack pull was heavy, was hoping for a set of 5, but only 3 was possible. We will see how things go over the next few sessions. It felt good to lift though! BTW 241 is a PR BW

Still trying to get my mojo back. I hate layoffs, although I believe that occasionally taking a vacation is a good thing, for the long haul that is.
