Was really wanting to get the big press PR tonight with 160x5x3, but not this time. The weight was actually more like 161, because I had to use the spring collars( it was really humid outside and the plates slid off of the sleeves at my 115 warmup), which weigh close to a pound for the both of them. After missing the first set, I took a couple of pounds off and messed with my technique some, still only yielded 4 reps, and I went on to do another set of 4. I’ll start with this load fresh on Sunday and see if I can manage some fives. I’m about to put together a press specialization program, I’m pretty sure that I’m going have to do more than just press to keep it going up at this point. Hopefully my pec will act right for the assistance stuff, we’ll see. Did one set of Rows, and I was like “ fuck these”. Opted to do some light power cleans. I haven’t attempted power cleans since running my novice LP over two years ago. Surprised how good my rack was. I have really long forearms, so I aligned my pinky up a little outside the 32” score mark. Some things to work on, but I think I’m going to run them as my medium day pull for a while, unless they prove to be more trouble than they are worth.

So, as usual, beginning of phase two and deloading my squat was pretty tough. Dropping down to 5 triples was not much of a relief, which doesn’t surprise me since I was chasing that big 5x5 PR last week. Was still a little sore in the legs from it. Time to focus on eating and rest really hard, especially for the next couple of weeks. Should workout great considering Thanksgiving is coming up. Finally made it into working sets of fives in the 160s for my press. I’ve been stuck in the 150s for wayyyy too long. So that marks a milestone. Rack Pull was rather easy it 590, rather too easy, because it was misloaded. It occurred to me shortly after the workout that I only had 570 on the bar. Oh well, it happens.

Pretty sure that I pulled my hamstring about halfway through that set of Deadlifts. It felt like a bad cramp( and that’s what I was hoping it was), but today it’s telling me otherwise. Going to keep an eye on it, may have to begin rehabbing it later this week.
