We have more John's in our gym than there are people of any other name. Sully often says John Ryan, John Rosey, John Carson, etc. But I'm sure you mean John Claassen. He's been recuperating from surgery and has been out of the gym for over a month. He hopes to be back on August 4. He's looking forward to his 97th birthday.

We were at Interlochen Academy of Arts near Traverse City. It really is one of our favorite places in the world. On Monday I did a Light Day.

    Dead: 135 x 3; 225 x 2; 315 x 1; 275 x 3. No chalk so I could not lift greater.
    Bench: 45 x 5; 95 x 2; 135 x 3 No safety bar and no help so I did not go higher.
    Press: 45 x 5; 65 x 3; 85 x 1; 95 x 3

Indeed and to top it off without chalk. There is only one thing that tops weightlifting. I love worshiping God and working for my Church. I even missed my 50th and very last college reunion to attend a weightlifting competition. I had quite a conflict today. I was helping my Church run a booth at a Street Fair. My Church is 40 minutes away. I dropped my wife off at the gym at 8:50 a.m. and traveled to the booth to help set it up. Then with all of the rush of people, I could not find where I parked my car. By the time I got back to the gym, I was 30 minutes late. I then raced home for lunch and went back to the booth.OY!

Here's my second light day of the week.

    Squat: 70 x 5 (P); 130 x 3; 170 x 1; 184 x 5 x 2
    Press: 45 x 5; 65 x 3; 85 x 1; 95 x 1; 104 x 1; 73 x 8 x 2

Look, I know I'm 76 and it's been four years since I set my present PR. Still, in my heart, I have some more PRs in me. How did a political action to disrupt a presidency disrupt my gains so much? On November 25 I will be ready to try for a new PR. That's what I'm working for. I'm registered for the John Claassen Pull to be held in Lansing.

    HLM Heavy Squat Day.

    Squat: 70 x 5 (P); 140 x 3; 190 x 1; 215 x 1; 231 x 1; 208 x 3 (15 lbs to a PR)
    Press: 45 x 5; 65 x 3; 85 x 1; 95 x 1; 103 x 1; 88 x 4; 88 x 5
    Dead: 135 x 3; 225 x 2; 270 x 5

Although it appears that a new PR on Squat will come before a PR for others I still have a tendency for timidity and I tend to lean forward. If I can get those under control the PR should come at least by October.

    HLM Light Day, Heavy Prowler

Squat: 70 x 5 (P); 130 x 3; 170 x 1; 185 x 5 x 2 I'm doing box squats for depth. I find if I'm timid I tend to lean too far forward which, of course, makes it harder to stand. When I crash into the box no matter how hard I stand up much more easily. Fascinating.
    Bench: 45 x 5; 95 x 3; 135 x 1; 155 x 1; 163 x 1; 114 x 8 x 2
    Prowler: 135 x 4 x 3 (PR)
