Much much better today. I'm still on antibiotics but my lifts were pretty good today. It was a light day. I did all of my squats with a straight bar. No big numbers, and the bar still tends to roll up toward my neck but I can actually get the bar down at the start to almost the low bar position. Squats were basically done at about the high bar position. Believe me, this was the best squat session I've ever had with the straight bar. BTW Most if not all of the squats were to depth.

    Squat: 45 x 5 (paused); 95 x 5; 115 x 3; 125 x 3; 100 x 5 x 2 (paused)
    Press: 45 x 5; 65 x 4; 85 x 3; 105 x 1; 117 x 1; 125 x 0
    Prowler: 90 lbs x 6 x 4

I plan to do straight bar squats on the L and M days but switch back to safety bar on heavy days so I can keep the weight up while learning to do the straight bar squat (sort of). After 6 years of trying I'm feeling pretty good about the squats.

I'm convinced that I can do some straight bar squats. What's surprised me is that I can consistently go deep enough whereas I'm not that consistent with the safety bar. I won't use much weight but at least I can do a high bar squat using a straight bar. I've picked up a little bad habit on the DL but I'll get that straightened out.

    Squat: 45 x 5; 95 x 1 (straight bar); Safety Bar:120 x 5; 160 x 3; 200 x 1; 230 x 1; 242 x 2 x 2; 100 x 5 x 2 (paused)
    Bench: 45 x 5; 95 x 3; 135 x 1; 150 x 2 x 2
    Dead: 135 x 5; 225 x 2; 315 x 1; 331 x 1; 355 x 0 x 0 Pushing worked. Pulling did not. You can guess what that meant.

All signed up for the Spring Challenge... see you there for your first white carded squat in a meet. Also entering are my brother and his son (15) who is likely to beat me like a rented mule.

Great to learn. I doubt that anyone else from Greysteel will be in attendance for April. However, my older son may show up to watch.
