Thank you, Bill. Growing up without much I was determined to set goals that always moved me forward. Once I reached one I'd set a new one. I guess my new goal is to live at peace with what I can do. Seems novel to me but I think I'm reaching that point. Contentment isn't bad, but it is unusual.

It's not easy when you struggle to get what you could do a few years ago and just can't manage it again. I'm going through that in spades with my squats these days. But then by other lifts are not what they were either.

Perseverance and humility are good virtues to have but the latter can be hard to accept when you have no other recourse.

I was really looking forward to the competitions which I really enjoyed. But I don't wish to embarrass myself.

May I suggest that there are a number of powerlifting competitions in federations outside the narrow confines of Starting Strength Strengthlifting?

You can get an idea of where you might place by looking here: Powerlifting Rankings

To get the best picture for a level playing field, sort by all tested lifters, raw, and your age and weight class. You might be pleasantly surprised and find renewed motivation when you see how others like yourself are doing.

I used to look at those. I know that at one time I was lifting at elite weights in Deadlift. Not now, but in 2019. Squat and bench in the advanced level, but I Use the safety bar. OHP was so so. I think I will look those up as they are today.

    HLM Light New matrix.

    Squat: 70 x 5 (Paused); 120 x 3; 160 x 1; 172 x 5 x 2; 100 x 5 (paused).
    Press: 45 x 5; 70 x 3; 90 x 1; 100 x 0 x 1; 70 x 8 x 3
    Prowler: 45 x 6 x 3

I just checked the powerlifting rankings. One woman is in her 60s and she out lifts me. Not one person is listed in their 70s and only a handful older than 39.

That seems odd. When I do a comparative lookup for myself I sort by All Feds (All Tested Lifters), Raw+Wraps (Raw), All Classes (weight 242), All Sexes (Men), All Ages (70-74), All Years (2022), All Event (Full Power). So far for 2022, I see only three people. Seems like an unusually small field for this time of the year, but then 2020 was much the same.

I'll try to ferret that out again.

Still putting in the work I see. That's better than not lifting even if you do not lift as much as you would like! I know how that is...
