Thank you. It inspires me. I had been training for just one year. Karl Schudt put a bug in my ear about competing so I gave it a try. I loved it. Sully is still not big on competitions but he drove out and filmed my lifts while he coached me. Sully is an excellent coach and a good man.

She is a trooper. I call her a saint in my book "The Healing of a Soul". She has had almost daily migraines since the age of 12. She has various digestive problems. But she keeps plugging along. She was a rather successful administrator working with DD and mentally ill clients. She nearly died. Yet she lifts weights with me. We keep an eye on each other. Actually, our 55+ years of marriage is a love story I'm thankful I did not miss. She's sleeping now in a dark room. It gives her some relief.

Finally back in the gym. We had a nice but short vacation in Interlochen near Traverse City. That's one of those places very close to heaven. 3,000 students aged 8 - 18 performed various forms of Art. It was wonderful. I wore my "Grandpa's too old not to deadlift shirt" one day and a young man perhaps a Senior in high school called me "Grandpa Swole". I think a new T-shirt is in my future with the words. "Grandpa Swole".

    Squat: 70 x 5 (paused); 120 x 3; 160 x 1; 180 x 1; 185 x 5 x 2. This new bar is taking some getting used to.
    Bench: 45 x 5; 95 x 3; 135 x 1; 150 x 3; 130 x 5 x 2
    Dead: 135 x 3; 225 x 2; 300 x 1; 322.5 x 1; 270 x 3. Surprisingly easy.

Get after it, Grandpa Swole. There are many between you and that high schooler that are inspired by your work.

I don't really look like a bodybuilder. I think of myself as a guy who stands up straight with pecs and lats. I still should lose a little weight but at least I can carry it fairly well unless it's after a day doing squats with that new safety bar. Anyway, I've seen several guys a little younger who look a good deal more muscular than I do.
