After several interruptions, we are back in the gym with Sully. I did some singles to see where I was after so much time alone. The time away was both good and bad. I could focus on some deficiencies with Squat and Press but did not lift quite as much as I had hoped with Deadlift.

    Squat: 70 x 5 (pause and use back of rack); 120 x 3; 140 x 1; 160 x 1; 180 x 1; 200 x 1 I could get deeper without feeling like I was going to tip over backward. I think I'm slowly getting used to the new bar.
Press: 45 x 5; 65 x 3; 85 x 1; 95 x 1; 100 x 0; 80 x 5 x 2. I think I'm getting the hang of bending way back as I look high up and only straightening up within inches. I had developed pain in my left arm over the last few months. When I straightened up too early I felt it. When I stayed back longer there was no pain. When I straightened too early I forced the bar forward and had a moment arm which gave me the pain.
    Dead: 135 x 3; 225 x 2; 295 x 1; 315 x 0; 225 x 3.

It's good to be back at it.

Then more interruptions. I think my wife and I only lifted three times in August. We had a combination of trips and Sully's bouts with Covid. Finally, e were back in. No great shakes but I did better than I expected.

    Squat: 70 x 5 (pause and use of back rack); 120 x 3; 140 x 2; 160 x 2; 180 x 2; 200 x 1; 180 x 3; 160 x 5
    Bench: 45 x 5; 95 x 3; 135 x 2; 145 x 1; 155 x 1; 135 x 3; 125 x 5
    Dead: 135 x 3; 225 x 2; 295 x 1; 315 x 1

I think I'm getting over my fear of the new safety bar and am reaching depth about 50% of the time.

    Light Day

    Squat: 70 x 5*; 120 x 3; 150 x 3; 170 x 1; 180 x 3; 160 x 5*; 135 x 5*. *Against back rack.
    Press: 45 x 5; 75 x 3; 85 x 1; 95 x 1; 85 x 3; 77.5 x 5
    Dead: 135 x 3; 225 x 2; 275 x 3

I will continue all squatage against the back rack until I break the habit of leaning forward.

Is Sully in NY? I saw a guy out the window of the bus yesterday that looked exactly like him, wearing a Michigan shirt lol

He does travel quite a bit but if he was I haven't heard. He is in demand for speaking engagements but I'm not privy to many of them.

I doubt it since he is under care for throat cancer.

Thank you. While not directly relating to it he is talking about leading as good a life as possible and if there is something more, great. If not he has still led a good life.

Heavy day but only partly successful.

    Squat all on back rack: 70 x 5; 120 x 5; 160 x 3; 185 x 2; 205 x 2 (first was not deep enough); 185 x 3 x 2
    Bench: 45 x 5; 95 x 3; 135 x 2; 155 x 1; 160 x 1; 135 x 5; 115 x 8
    Dead: 135 x 3; 225 x 2; 300 x 0. I had planned to do 320 but stopped.
