I've technically been an intermediate for over 4 years. I've enjoyed encouraging new lifters but I'm really ready to do a bit more in competitive lifting. I doubt that I'll set the world on fire but starting next week I'll be posting here.

Here's my latest deadlift top single. YouTube

I'm a GreySteel lifter. For those who don't know: I'm 71, have been lifting with Dr. Sullivan since mid February, 2013; I'm 5'10" and weigh 222.

    Continued from my novice log.

    HLM Light Day

Squat stretches: I've never been able to do low bar back squat with a straight bar although I worked on and off for years. I hope to actually add this to my lifts at the USSF competition in Chicago on October 27. I use the safety bar for the regular lifts.

    Squat: 70 x 5; 120 x 5; 160 x 3; 200 x 5 x 3
    Bench: 45 x 5; 95 x 5; 135 x 3; 154 x 1; 165 x 1; 170 x 0
    Prowler: Sled only 0 x 6 x 1; 85 x 6 x 3 We use the length of the gym for our measurements. Hence 0 x 6 x 1 is the non-weighted prowler up and down 6 times. 85 x 6 x 3.

Thank you. I have not paid much attention to the Intermediate Forum and I'm not good at posting but the coaching apprentice is trying to video every PR. I hope to get some more.

Carson, Dear, most of the time it takes you months to hit a new mark on your lifts.
That makes you advanced, not intermediate.
Your perseverence and patience inspire me, along with the heaviness of the weights you have reached.

Squat Stretch. I can actually get the bar at least to the high bar position and it doesn't roll up much.

    Squat: 70 x 5; 120 x 6; 160 x 3; 210 x 2; 231 x 2 x 2
    Press: 45 x 5; 65 x 5; 85 x 3; 95 x 2; 104 x 2; 75 x 8 x 3
    Dead: 135 x 3; 225 x 2; 315 x 1; 322 x 1; 345 x 1

Not bad for a old man. I plan to do better next time.

On Wednesdays (some times Thursdays) I go to a local gym and do some stretching and HIIT. I am finding that the straight bar is finally going down almost to the low bar position. The stuffed dinosaur they give out at the Fall competition in Chicago sponsored by the USSF is a powerful incentive to do a straight bar squat.
