Hey James, I'm probably not the best person to ask about progressing chins. I'm an apprentice at on of the SS gyms so I do have some idea.

I had heard Rip say something to the effect of "Chins are part of the program so you have to do them, but they are an assistance exercise so do them however you want to as long as you do them". I'm pretty focused on driving up the other lifts, personally I feel like whenever I try to chin too heavy too often, I just end up beating up my elbows and the main lifts suffer.

Might not be the best way, but I just do bodyweight sets of 5 on my upper body days, and I do them in between my volume presses/benches. I'll set a 5-6 min timer between sets on the bench for example, and do a set of 5 chins at about the halfway mark. If I leave them to after my workout I'm likely to skip them.

Hopefully this is good advice. Good luck with your training!

Thanks for that Robert, it was quite helpful, I just need to suck it up and get in some more sets throughout the week I think, the method you mention is a good idea.

Block Bench Press: 315x1 (floor), 335x1, 365x0, 90% 300x2-4:4, 80% 275x5-8: 8. First time trying these. I hit the top end of both my backoff ranges so looks like 365 was too heavy, but 335 was too light. Will try 345-350 next time
