    Thanks brother! Yep, I'm back into Texas Method style programming now so we'll see where we get on this run.

    Deadlift: 415x4x4 (V16 PR!)


    Wanted a target I knew I could hit after a rough week last week, so this is what I picked. I plan to LP some 4x4s for a little while on the DL. Technically these were slated for tomorrow but I did them today while Julie squatted next to me.

    That last press rep was a competition grinder. But I really didn't want to get off my press programming track. The problem: I debated over a 2.5lb bump over my last 3x3, or a 5lb bump. Went with 5, nearly paid for it with failure. I'll do my 2x3 next week at +2.5 and stay modest, eh?

    Squat and Bench ID

    Squat: 390x3x3 (V9 PR!)

    Bench: 320x2


    I took a weight cut on the squat and did an extra triple to make it a contrived PR. Felt heavy; think I'm still recovering from all the stress of last cycle.

    On the bench, my warmup sets all flew up but as soon as I unracked 320 I felt drained. Did two reps and racked it; I'd hoped I might have a 5PR today but ... just not yet. Probably I'll have to step back to step forward. But I got the session in so I'm happy; I now have data for a baseline for this cycle.

    Volume Bench: 260x5x5


    Scaled back to 80% of ID target. Left shoulder (anterior deltoid) has been in pain for 9 days; hasn't backed off even though I dropped the weight back today. Not ready to call myself injured yet, but it's annoying.

    Rows: 245x6x3

    A modest PR on the rows (best 6-across) but I'm not really tracking those as PRs.

    Dumbell Rows: 125/125x5x3

    More light pulling volume.

    For various reasons I skipped today. I've got a feeling that this will be a benefit rather than detriment to Friday's work, but we'll find out on Friday.

    Still not "feeling it" lately, but some off-brand volume PRs are still coming along. I'm out of town all next week, with one lifting session planned for Wednesday, where I just plan to do enough to not detrain the lifts. Haven't written that out yet.

    On the road all week. I'll have today, and Wednesday, to get some work in. Today went very well:

    Squat: 410x1, 430x1 (PR!), 435x1 (PR!) Video of top singles at Geoffrey Bischoff on Instagram: “2 new PR singles on the road at @socal_powerlifting make for a great day. 430x1 435x1 God is merciful. #22000lbs4johnson…”

    Was at SoCal Powerlifting this afternoon. Had the place nearly to myself. Equipment was top notch, and everything was firing on all cylinders, so I ran singles up. These will be my only squats this week. Considering how they went, that's just fine by me.
