    Recovery Continued

    Squat: 355x5, 335x5x2

    Press: 185x5, 165x5x2

    DL: 410x5

Bronchitis seems largely gone. Still some weakness and dizziness. Had to lean on the uprights between sets. I think I'm going to hit some form of LP re-run starting Monday. I'm toying with doing the entire thing "top and drop," that is, doing top 5 then 2 backoffs for all 3x5s. Which would make Monday's squat 360x5, 340x5x2. We shall see. Depends how much weekend sleep I get. Army has me the next 76 days (who's counting?) but it's supposed to be desk stuff at least the next week or so.

    Modified LP W1D1

    Squat: 365x5, 345x5x2

    Row: 225x8x3

    Bench: 275x5x3

No idea how this is going to go. My 5rep lifetime best is 375x5.

Plan is: Monday and Friday, Squat/Row/Bench. Squat will continue to be top and drop; bench will be some kind of set progression. As in, Friday I might do 280, 275, 275; Monday 280, 280, 275; following Friday 280, 280, 280.

Wednesdays: Press and Deadlift. I've got to make a decision on Press programming, but for deadlift, I'm going to try Andy Baker's 6-week deadlift program. Have mercy on my soul.

    Modified LP W1D2.1

    Deadlift: 365x5x5

Army day. HQ has a stocked barbell gym right down the hall from where I hung my hat today. Got this done in 40 minutes on a lunch break (just changed my boots out for shoes and did it in uniform).

Great job on the lifts, and getting them in with a less than perfect schedule. I'm looking forward to your 405x5 top set squat.

Adam: I'd like that a lot. We shall see. I am skeptical.

    Modified LP W1D3

    Squat: 370x5, 350x5x2

These were smoother than expected. Back on LP, I got 370x5 and then a couple drop sets (lower than 350, forget how much lower). But in my log, there were bad marks for depth (rep 4 questionable, rep 5 no good). Today, they were all smooth, though I was in considerable pain after. Not injured pain; just the kind of pain that made me move really slowly to strip the bar for rows.

    Rows: 225x8x3

Same as last time. Not feeling any need to increase this stress right now.

    Bench: 285x5x3 (Sets Across PR!)

Didn't realize until I was reviewing the log after set 2. I stopped doing 5s and moved to triples after hitting 277x5x3 back last summer. So: This is a 5s across PR, and it was smooth enough that I probably have 2 more 5lb jumps in me.

A good day. Immediately followed by packing up and driving to Northern AZ for some more Army stuff. Here for one or two workouts looks like; the Army gym has a good reputation here. I'll scout it this weekend.

    Modified LP W2D1

Squat: 380x5 (5PR!), 350x5x2 Video of 380 at Geoffrey Bischoff on Instagram: “380x5. 5PR. LP round 2 is already a success. Thanks to my meathead pals who prayed for me today. You two know who you are. SDG #wendler531…”

On the road, found a place in West Flagstaff. Took a 10lb jump on squat and got a new 5PR. Kept the backoffs where they were. Going to try same on Friday, so that my backoff sets are at 90 percent.

    Row: 265x3x5

Weird weight because they had kilos on the deadlift platform, so I did triples. Felt good.

Bench: 285x5 (comp pause), 285x5x2 (TnG)

Another sets across PR on bench with a 5lb jump.

Feeling really good this LP. SDG

Grats on the 5 rep PR. We're you glad to have backoff sets after the top set, or felt like you had 380 across?

I was super happy for backoff sets. I don't think sets across is a thing for me right now!

    Modified LP W2D2

    Deadlift: 441x3x3 First set video at Geoffrey Bischoff on Instagram: “441x3 (200.5 kilos). Harder than expected. SDG. #wendler531 #power #powerlifting #linearprogression #teamssoc #texasmethod #madcow5x5…”

All three triples were tough. Was feeling a bit under today. My Army duty in Flagstaff ended; I drove straight home from this workout (3 hour drive) and weighed in: I'd lost 4 lbs during the trip due to poor road diet. I think that accounts for the weak feelz. The DLs still came up. The presses though ...

    Press: 190x4, 3, 4

Didn't have the 5s today. I'll repeat next week and see if I've got sets across.
