    BTMV, W8D2

The day the BTMV died? But seriously; Tim's been dabbling between intermediate and novice for awhile now; I told him the only thing keeping him from a consistent intermediate phase is consistency and process. Tonight was a rough night. Still snuck in a PR though.

    Squat: 360x1

This triple crashed at rep 2.

    Bench: 242.5x2 (2PR!)

A PR! But this was an attempted triple.

    Deadlift (Volume): 315x5x2

After the performance on bench and squat, Tim decided to take my advice and move to a more traditional type of Texas Method. So we'll try this again, with intensity DL on Monday with volume Squat and bench; Wednesday Light squat/press progression/light pull; Friday intensity squat and bench, volume DL.

    So far so good.

    TM 3day, W1D2

    Squat (Light): 275x5x2

    Press (Progression): 147.5x1x3 (V3 PR!), 155x1 (PR!)

    Chins: AMRAP 4: 10, 10, 10, 10

I had to check out before Tim finished. If he gets me the results before the edit deadline closes, I'll edit them in here.

Edit: Tim hit 10s across on the chins. Looks like he's significantly better at these than I am.

The week Tim finally validates a Texas Method.

Squat (Intensity): 360x5 (5PR!) Video at Login • Instagram

Tim got some SBD knee sleeves and was feeling really good, and looking great in warmup. So instead of a top triple for intensity day, I recommended he try for 5. He got it stone cold. That's a +20 over his last 5PR at 340. Great day for Tim; he was walking on air the rest of the night.

    Bench (Intensity): 242.5x3 (3PR!)

Just putting in work here; not terribly tough. I think more triples are in the works.

    Deadlift (Volume): 320x5x2

My last session in Arizona for a long time; Tim's gonna be on his own for awhile now unless he breaks down and hires a coach.

    Squat (Intensity): 365x3 (3PR!)

Hard fought. We went early morning, and Tim needed a lot of warmup. Even so, he couldn't seem to convince himself to *lean over* into the squat. As a result, all three reps were very vertical. He started out hoping for a fahve, but rep 3 was so grindy he racked it. Tim's strong enough to have this for 5 if he gets out of his head.

    Bench (Intensity): 245x3 (3PR!)

    Deadlift (Volume): 320x5x2

The work Tim has done since the first of the year has been transformational. I hope he keeps with it - ideally working with a coach - and I hope he keeps logging here.

David; I hope he sticks with it, too.

As for this week of training: Tim reports none. His house sale closed, and he has a new baby as of yesterday, though ... that's more important than training. I recommended he repeat his previous week of training rep for rep. I hope he's able to get to the gym, but new baby might mean a longer layoff than expected. Another intermediate LP might be in his future.
