    Monday 6/14 - Volume Day
    Squat...........350x5x5
    Bench...........250x5x5
    Power Clean...210x3x5

    Wednesday 6/16 - Recovery Day
    Squat...........280x5x2
    Press............157x5x5
    Power Snatch.160x2x6

    Friday 6/18 - Intensity Day
    Squat...........390x5
    Bench...........280x3x2
    Press............174x1x5
    Deadlift.........435x5

Left quad is feeling beat up again. Have to keep an eye on that.

Feedback from form check on 435x5 deadlift: be patient at the bottom, take the slack out, and then leg drive off the floor. Most lockouts are soft; lift chest at the top and straighten hips.

    Monday 6/21 - Volume Day
    Squat...........355x5x5
    Bench...........250x5x5
    Power Clean...215x3x5

    Wednesday 6/23 - Recovery Day
    Squat...........285x5x2
    Press............158x5x5
    Power Snatch.165x2x6

    Friday 6/25 - Intensity Day
    Squat...........395x5
    Bench...........285x3x2
    Press............176x1x5
    Deadlift.........440x3,1,1

Recovery was a little compromised this week due to the second shot. Iíll try 440x5 again next week. Power cleans and power snatches have gotten sloppy, so itís time to drop the weight and clean them up.

Default Texas Method - Running it Out

    Monday 6/28 - Volume Day

    Bench...........250x5x5
    Power Clean...185x3x5

    Wednesday 6/30 - Recovery Day
    Squat...........290x5x2
    Press............160x5x5
    Power Snatch.135x2x6

    Friday 7/2 - Intensity Day
Squat...........400x5 <--first squat PR since September
    Bench...........290x2x3

    Deadlift.........440x5

Power clean and power snatch are looking much better at lower weight. I'll progress from here with 2.5 pound jumps. Bench is down to doubles.

    Monday 7/5 - Volume Day
    Squat...........365x5x5
    Bench...........255x5x5
    Power Clean...187.5x3x5

    Wednesday 7/7 - Recovery Day
    Squat...........290x5x2
    Press............162x5x5
    Power Snatch.137.5x2x6

    Friday 7/9 - Intensity Day
    Squat...........405x5
    Bench...........295x2x3, 300x1 <---couldn't resist
    Press............180x1x5
    Deadlift.........445x3, 385x5

Coach Rip is always telling people on the Q&As, "get your squat up to four oh five" - well, here I am. Feels like a big moment. Had to get the 300 bench in, too.

Deadlift is down to a triple with a backoff set of five at around 85%. I'm two weeks out from competition now.

    Thanks! Excitement is mounting.

    Monday 7/12 - Volume Day
    Squat...........370x5x3
    Bench...........260x5x3
    Power Clean...190x3x5

    Wednesday 7/14 - Recovery Day
    Squat...........295x5x2
    Press............164x5x5
    Power Snatch.140x2x6

Friday 7/16 - Intensity Day (Openers)
    Squat...........408x1x2 (185 kg)
    Bench...........265x1x2 (120 kg) <-- competition pause bench
    Deadlift.........441x1x2 (200 kg)

Friday was the last Intensity session before the meet. I put on the singlet and took each opener twice, practicing commands each time. I squatted and benched outside the rack with no safeties to try to create the feeling of lifting in a strange place.

Default 2021 USAPL Maine State Championships

Saturday, July 24th, in Saco, Maine.

    Squat.....185/195/200 kg (441 lb)
    Bench.....120/125/130 kg (287 lb)
    Deadlift...200/210/215 kg (474 lb)

    Total - 545 kg (1201 lb)

Nine good lifts, huge PRs, and a 1200 total. I couldn't have asked for a better first meet. The energy in that room was electric - competing is an incredible experience. I will strive to compete once a year.

I passed out briefly under my third attempt bench, but I locked it out. I remember getting the press command, and the world faded out when the bar was most of the way up. When I remembered where I was and what I was doing, the bar was racked with two white lights on the board, and the spotters were asking me if I was ok. Weird experience - I wonder if I screwed up my breathing somehow. Lots of credit to the spotters for keeping me safe on that one.

Awesome news! I had looked at your NLP log to see how much progress you made; a little over a year ago, you mentioned that you hoped to compete "within the next three years" with squat/bench/dead numbers of 185/135/205. Nice work!

Thanks for the retrospective! I didn't quite realize how far I had come.

You're making some solid progress, too - I can sympathize with your travel challenges. I used to live that life.
