I'm sure there are dangers with deadlift as well, but to me when done correctly, it is a natural movement. If we needed to pick things up in life, we would do so similar to executing a deadlift. I cannot see bench press being as practical.
My background is mostly personal experience, interest in mitochondria and seasonal adaptations in mammals, so I've done a lot of study in that area. I'm mostly interested in how we operate with nature, irregardless of what the science says, however some of the science that can help explain these adaptations built into our mitochondrial DNA is what fascinates me (Dr. Doug Wallace has some good stuff as a world expert in mitochondria). I work in IT, so totally unrelated, but I am a certified health coach who has reversed many of my own health ailments by reconnecting with nature, and understanding energy at a quantum level rather than the typical macronutrient/micronutrient level. Mitochondria work with electrons and protons and use heat/light frequencies as well as electromagnetism to drive flow. Dr. Jack Kruse has some good stuff on this as well, although I don't just take his word for it and do my own research.
