Music — The Beatles, Here Comes The Sun; Fear Factory, Edgecrusher; Anthrax, Caught In A Mosh; Black Sabbath, Snowblind; Judas Priest, Breaking The Law (live).

Notes — Light day overall. Feeling beat up from this week's activities had me hemming and hawing about even doing this while looking towards the upcoming week's activities. So the correct answer was to get out and do it anyway.
    - OP - Light day. All good, even though I was quite tired after yesterday's 152.5x5x3 PR.
    - BP - Light day. All good.
    - PC - The day after heavy rack pulls, so this might be interesting. Although I realized that last week I did 135x5x3 instead of 135x3x5 (clearly out of practice with Cleans), so this 140x3x5 should be a bit more manageable. And I am clearly out of practice. The very first clean, I pulled it off the floor, which meant that I was arching my back as the bar passed my waist, which meant that the bar caught on the belt; that did not feel good on my left shoulder (the one I tweaked back in August and it's moments like these that it reminds me that it's still not 100%). The first two sets were all over the place, not efficient at all. I refocused and made sure that I kept my armpits over the bar as long as possible and focused on hinging my hips, which solved the issues. All good.

Music — Sid Vicious vs Frank Sinatra, My Way; Bad Brains, Re-Ignition; Reagan Youth, No Class; Adolescents, Amoeba; Misfits ft Henry Rollins, We Are 138 (live); Generation X, Valley Of The Dolls; Fugazi, Styrofoam; Circle Jerks, Live Fast Die Young; Mudhoney, Touch Me I'm Sick.

    Notes
    - SQ - Heavy w/ 91% backoff sets. That 340x5 was tough, especially after 2x snowboarding days this week. Those 91% backoffs felt lighter out of the hooks, but didn't feel that way as the sets progressed. All good.
    - BP - Heavy sets across. All good. A very satisfying PR.
    - PC - Light. After Sunday's Clean session and the shoulder tweak off of my very first rep (pulled off the floor and caught the bar on my belt), snowboarding on Monday wasn't very comfortable. My bride dug into the connections throughout the shoulder and biceps and did quite a bit of good. Yesterday's snowboarding session was much more comfortable, and today I haven't had any of the random twinges that I've had for months. So I'm throwing in a light day of my light pull to keep working the technique and keeping things moving. All good.

You're killing it for a "maintenance program"...

It's still early, Fred. I sure am enjoying coasting on the residuals of my late-2022 drive upward. Last year I was still driving progress until right about now, the last week of January and first week of February, before I started experiencing failures across all of the lifts and had to start resetting/modifying. So I know it's coming soon.

So far this maintenance season the Haltings have been my nemesis, as I'm still trying to figure out where I should have actually started. Similar to last year. Will try again Saturday.

ETA: And I won't lie. It took everything I had on the last rep of that 340x5 to not get stapled to the safeties. It's been quite awhile since I felt that on a squat.

    Notes —
    - OP - Heavy sets across. Even though I haven't felt so much as a twinge in my left shoulder the last few days, it started once I started putting weight on the bar during this warmup. Grumble grumble. And then it didn't appear during the first work set, which went up smoothly. Sets 2 & 3 weren't quite that smooth, with rep #5 of each slowing appreciably, indicating that I'm approaching my limit this maintenance season. But no shoulder twinges. I'll take this PR and keep trying for more.
    - HDL - Heavy. Another reset after last time's 335x4 (instead of 335x8), but I've started increasing my pull frequency by introducing light pulls, so we'll see if this is the weight. The 135x4 Cleans really fired up the left delt, so it was 135x2+1+1 instead. All DL warmups were DOH and full ROM. And the Haltings continue to be my nemesis, as the lower back seized on rep #5. A compete reset and I was able to eke out two more. But no eighth rep as I had to grab the rack to slowly move from bent over to standing upright. I guess I'm really going to have to drop the weight on these.

It's a chilly one, and will be downright cold tomorrow with wind chills below zero. With this rapid change of temperature, new snow, and strong winds, it's best to stay off the mountains for a bit, both in- and out-of-bounds.

A good chance to mull over the way ahead with these blasted Haltings.

Music — The White Stripes, Fell In Love With A Girl; Strokes, Is This It; LCD Soundsystem, Losing My Edge; The Killers, When You Were Young; Alabama Shakes, Don't Wanna Fight.

Notes — A chilly one. I'm having to cradle my coffee mug between warmup sets to compensate for the cold bar.
    - OP - Light day. Although it felt anything but, likely thanks to a weekend of poor sleep/recovery (not due to any fun reasons, but just that's how sleep has been). I ground out the first set and thought about making this a 2x5 light day, but stuck it out for three tough sets. All good.
    - BP - Light day. Similarly, they didn't feel that way. But all good.
    - PC - Light day. Originally programmed as 142.5x3x5, but I didn't take into account my schedule today when I originally wrote that. So instead of skipping them, I switched to a few light reps to get some done. All good.

    2. Pull 4 plates for the first time

As you can see, I achieved both, and then some. With my first pull off the floor, I was already at 1,020lbs. So really, I could have cruised off that and called it good. But I wanted that 4-plate+ pull . . . . Total — 390+255+410 = 1,055lbs
Apologies for missing this earlier--nice job!
