    what's up bill!
    this is exactly my progression:

"double overhand -> hook grip -> mixed grip -> straps? With chalk?"

i can double overhand with a 140kg, depending on the barbell. if i get a thicker barbell, i may be able to do a single.
hook grip used to be my favourite but...it hurts like hell, and i can't get around the pain and thus I did singles for my deadlift to get around the pain.
mixed grip is my main grip now. i used to ignore it, never like it, but i want to do heavy deadlift.
i have been using straps for 2 sessions now. :-) my straps are still new, got it from the straps from a sling bag that i hardly use anymore. and it is giving my strap burn on my wrist. :-)

    cheers,
    raymond

I just saw your comment and can really relate. I was out of any kind of meaningful training for about a year and maybe it's due to being in my mid 50's but my muscle memory seems to have a touch of amnesia. Oh well, if it was easy everyone would do it. Right? We'll get there.

Haha, I was meaning where are you at right now with your grip progression. But fair enough. Washington State, USA.
