I had a bulging disc years ago from deadlifting overzealously with poor form. I've continued to lift after (McKenzie Extension Exercises, bent backwards until the ligaments forced the bulging portion back into the disc), and gained a significant amount of weight using the linear progression template in Starting Strength. However, I actually think instead of strengthening the side of my back with the injury, I actually just unconsciously strengthened everything around it. My deadlift is pretty poor, despite an alright low bar squat (415 3x5). My posture is also pretty lopsided. Unless I consciously straighten them, my shoulders are essentially diagonal. I'm sure there are some people here who have experienced similar injuries---have you ever heard of someone with a "weak" side of their lower back? Were they able to fix it, and how did they pull it off? Thanks in advance.
