Suggestion for heaaling Sciaticia
Hi Guys,
I am 31 year old male, 182 cm 70kgs. I have been doing desk job for a decade now, and I have been lifting continously since age of 15.
I have sciatic pain from 2021.11.30 in my left buttocks and lower back after a box training section (probably due to bad technique) and I was probably infected with covid during that time since I got positive test after 4 days.
First few days I experienced severe pain which radiated to my upper leg, and it hurt when I sneezed. I also had very stiff movement. After few days it got much bearable, and I started exercising but, it got worse again.
What I realized during the weeks, that even strectches can irriatate it the wound. What I can do safely is walk and swimming.
I got an MRI and it stated that it is not a herniated disk, but a bulding disk based on x-ray.
I am going for massage 1/week, but it does not help. I have an appoitment with a physical therapist and I am also considering tryin a chiropractor.
Currently my movement is not limitated at all, but some movemetns hurts a little but it is bearable. However I am afraid, that some movements can aggravate the wound again which happened in the past with streching and jumping rope for example.
Anyone else experienced something similar? How was the healing time and what helped.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks you in advance
Csaba

70 kilos is very light . . . hard to have enough musculature to protect your back at that weight. Here's an interesting article:

Nubax trio traction device
I have one and it’s great bought it on Amazon
Looks like it’s junk but I’m 6’4” 250 and it handles me just fine and I’ve had it for a sour a year and use it often
Read the reviews I followed the directions of 3 minutes twice a day and in a week I was pain free

Low back pain and sciatica are two different things, Bob.

They can be both from impingement.
I had low back pain and very painful sciatica and this thing fixed it. That’s my experience FWIW.
It looks like a gimmic and I was a skeptic but was desperate to get some relief.
It’s worth a try IMO I’m glad I did. If it doesn’t help you aren’t out much.

Interesting you mention covid, I had the flu a few years back and the day I started feeling better, I also started having severe sciatica. Very weird. Anyway, what helped me was minimizing training movements that exacerbated the pain (in my case specifically I deadlifted from blocks, did box squats, and did pin bench), while incorporating a few PT drills daily for a few months. After 6 to 8 months the sciatica was gone. The important thing was continuing to train yet doing so in such a way as to not make the problem worse.
