Post squat/deadlift training, say the next day, if i find myself twisting whilst putting pressure on left side, i get a very sharp pain in lower left back that causes left leg to give way, have to catch myself from falling. Any advice on steps i should take to diagnose whats going on? The doc says stop training and rest, i'm not doing that. Had this for a while now(6mths+), i just keep training, its fine during training. Its just very unsettling when it happens on days off.

    What was the doctor's diagnosis?

She poked and prodded but I had no pain at that time, she seemed to be more concerned that I was lifting such heavy weights at my age, gave me anti inflammatory prescription. I haven’t taken it, seeing a different doc next week, I might ask for an MRI ? I’m thinking it might be sciatica or piriformis issue, pain seems a bit to high for piriformis, ie it’s not in the butt but higher in the lower back.

Right, no diagnosis, but she got paid anyway. Look, panda, everybody's back hurts. If you run to the doctor every time your back hurts, you soon learn not to do that. Train through it.
