    Rip,

    Good afternoon.

I’m 39 with a herniated disc in my lower spine. This disc pushes on my nerves bundle of sorts which causes pain down my right leg to include numbness at times.

I’ve seen a surgeon who informed that I’m too young to be cut. I told him that your program seems to help but of course doesn’t take it all away. He said continue with it then.

My problem is when dead lifting presently, my lower back is quite agitated and painful. More so than what it use to be. It has caused my deadlift weight to struggle due to the weight on the low back.

I’ve tried rack pulls which are helpful and not as painful. The halting deads are quite the opposite. I also do chins weekly. I’m not trying to go backwards any further.

Your thoughts? Still doing the NLP substituting deads and cleans.

Presses are surprisingly not an issue. I do feel it when performing squats, although not as much as I feel pulling deadlifts. Usually around the second set of squats it’s warmed to where it is not as noticeable. However, as warm as I can be, with deadlifts it always reminds me that it’s still there

Then stop pulling from the floor and switch to rack pulls while it heals.

Allow the pain I’m feeling now subside correct. Once it does, should I go back to deadlifts or halting? What weight would you recommend to start with?

Thank you. Funny how the simple solutions can be so hard to figure out.
