Hi, I have a lateral meniscal cyst on my left knee. It doesn’t usually cause any pain except for after squatting. Not during the exercise but causes pain and tightness for days afterward.

Just wondering if there is a modification or anything I can try to continue to train?

Any advice greatly appreciated. My research suggests that surgery seems to be the only way to fix this though.

Are you reluctant to have it removed?

I’m open to having it removed. I just haven’t been able to find any info on whether or not that’s the best option?

Have you seen this kind of thing before?

In the mean time is there any alterations I can make to continue?

I haven't had one, or seen one in a trainee. And I haven't seen your x-rays. But if there is a mechanical blockage in your articular area, there is no way to train around it.

Thank you Rip, I’ll investigate the surgery.

I just wanted to also say a while back I wrote in a question for one of your Q & A sessions about just being diagnosed type 2 diabetic. With strength training and cutting back carbs I’ve been returning normal A1C results and haven’t been on any medication for almost three years now.

    Thank you.
