I've had to assess everything myself until I figure out a way to get to a seminar or do some online coaching. When I first started benching, I was not particularly concerned about my form on that exercise because I had benched in the past and viewed it as "easy." I will probably start bench pressing a shot again in a month or so (two month lay-off) and see what happens.

Just a quick follow up that I used the high rep presses, gradually moving up to normal weight, and it resolved my nagging rotator cuff pain in about 3 weeks. I can now rise from the couch without pain for the first time in many months.
I have resumed benching with no issues so far.
