Fair enough, I’ve been doing it off and on for twelve years now, but it is taking its toll. I assume it’s a somewhat similar decision to you not riding horses or motorcycles when it was time to stop.

Definitely not the best activity for disc health. My neck was fucked a long time before I started rolling though, BJJ just finished it off.

Saw the surgeon and came up with a plan. Going to get the simplify artificial disc at c4/c5. As of now there’s no need to touch c5/c6. With c6/c7 and c7/t1 already fused we decided an artificial disc is the way to go or it would be a definite c5/c6 would go bad down the road if another fusion was done. He’s not big on me lifting so soon after this surgery again but I’m going to go ahead and run the LP starting with just the bar for all lifts (135 for DL) to make sure the neck can tolerate it.

I just happened to do a podcast with Ray Gillenwater where we discussed his rehab after an ACDF. Might be worth a listen.
