Are you taking any NSAIDs?
I'm currently rehabing my left shoulder. MRI report stated no acromion issues only bursitis in the subacormal space and superspantus fraying. Anywho, I have been using the press doing 3x5 with 60 to 80 percent of my normal work sets. I find it doesn't hurt to do the lift, but the next day I'm a little flared up. I add 5 pounds every workout and try to insure there is a shrug at the top of the press to insure clearance in the subacormal space. Should I not add weight till it's painless the following day or is this just apart of the process? Also, should I consider only pressing 2x a week for 3x5 instead of 3x? I don't mind being achie if it leads to a healed shoulder. I feel like I'm walking a tight rope of titration. If I do nothing it won't get better, if I do to much it flares it up.
Are you taking any NSAIDs?
No. I was worried it stop the healing by suppressing inflammation and stop the healing cascade. Could I be wrong?
I am also back squatting heavy and deadlift heavy during this as well. My press is the only thing I am doing light and I have eliminated the bench press for now.
I’m late to this party, but Sully has a detailed article on the use of NSAIDs and other pain relievers called “Stopping the Spread of Misinflammation.”
Bottom line, as Rip says and you are doing, stop worrying and take ‘em.
