    Hi Rip,
My friend has just fractured his elbow in a bicycle accident on the way to work.
The doctors are going to get him into surgery in about 48 hours and in the meantime they immobilized it.

Do you have any tips or expectations on that procedure and rehab?

His press PR is 145lb for 5 reps / bench 220lb for 5 reps. Healthy male, 26 years old, 6'0", weighing 172lb.

Thanks in advance for any input.

He should be just fine. Should just be an open reduction, internal fixation. Standard healing if they get good alignment. Elbows get stiff after surgery, so that will be the primary focus when he is out of the cast.

    Thanks for the input!
Do you think it worth going to the standard PT, or just do "linear progression" of the range of motion first with no load, than slightly increasing the resistance and so on? Or the PTs would have any special advantage which make it the right decision to go there?
