You have it backwards. You incorporate the Olympic lifts into your strength training, when it's time. Strength is the base, the SN and C&J are the ornament at the top.
Hi,
I purchased your Starting Strength book and DVD recently, but since then I've joined the university Olympic weightlifting club and I enjoy it a lot. The Olympic weightlifting training is on a Wednesday and Friday, we do the Olympic lifts, power cleans and a small amount of front squats.
How would you incorporate the squat, deadlift, military press and bench press to increase my strength, alongside the Olympic weightlifting training on a Wednesday and Friday?
I'm a beginner in terms of strength training and Olympic weightlifting.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
Only members of university teams can use the gym, so I have to do the Olympic weightlifting to have access to the gym Monday to Friday.
Can you offer any advice on how I can increase my strength using the basic barbell exercises, and how to structure the training.
Thanks.
I don't really have any info on increasing your strength with basic barbell exercises. But it sounds like it might work.
Hmmm, if only there was some way for him to program his strength training in a practical manner. Second edition.
When you are starting strength training, you need a practical program to help you in you battle against mean old mister gravity. And remember, only the strongest shall survive.
Damned if I know, Steve.
